Begonia luxurians in SoCal - when to prune/fertilize

Jean Emery

Hello Begonia Forum,

I'm a newbie to this group, live in San Diego about 5 miles from the cost. I have a begonia luxurians that I'm besotted with; got it this fall. Growing outside in a pot under a pergola. It is starting to put out tiny new leaves. Should I prune it back now? It's pretty leggy. Should I start to fertilize it now, or wait until the weather is a little warmer?

...I feel like the plant is acting like it is spring already, I don't know if I should encourage it with pruning and food, or let it be for another six weeks or so.
