stackable washer/dryer recommendations?
Comments (7)I have LG washer and dryer stacked. The washing machine is WM2301 with 4.2CF capacity and an internal heater but otherwise it has no fancy features like steam, etc. I am very pleased with this set. I owned 3 other front loaders before and this is by far the best of them. The FL I owned most recently was Whirlpool Duet Sport without a heater which was still working fine after 4 years of ownership but I decided to upgrate to LG FL with a heater. The LG is a lot more stable, has bigger capacity and the internal heater makes a huge difference in washing ability. I paid $1K for the pair on a great black Friday special at Best Buy....See MoreStackable washer and dryer recommendations
Comments (9)@alex - Thanks so much Alex. It was done for sale and proved very effective. No hood in that apartment. One reason I stayed with a non-pro range. Had to open the window over the sink. I didn't do much heavy cooking in there but it worked for most things. And in NYC it's so much easier to live on take out. That condenser dryer did a great job. There were only 2 things about it. One, was that there was an interior grill/lint trap that had to be removed and cleaned periodically. The cleaning was tedious. Second was that the door to the closet had to be left open while the dryer was running. It created a lot of heat. It ran a little longer than the others but not so much longer that I remember. But that sure beat the years of lint we found in the wall when we removed the old dryer that been put on a wood shelf. We were lucky there hadn't been a fire. I've had Bosch, Miele and Asko dryers. IMO, while the Bosch heats things up more than the others, it does a great job. I would get another Bosch pair for an apartment without hesitation. Thing is, with the washer, you don't get the precision heater. So you don't get that extra muscle on the whites. But the drum capacity of the washer & dryer are slightly larger than the others. But I'd look at the Electrolux pair today since those are new to the market. I haven't seen it or used it but I think Larsi said the Elux compact has a heater....See MoreStackable washer/dryer recommendation
Comments (3)Do you want a compact 24 inches or a standard 27 in machine? My candidate for the compact is the Electrolux, bu.t the =matching dryer is a condenser no vent dryer. You can use just about any size 4 cu ft. I like the LGs, but the Whirlpools are OK too. I would avoid GE, Samsung and Kenmore (now up for sale). Samsung poor construction and GE poor customer service and spotty construction on some models. Good Hunting. Remember FL are not intuitive to use. There is a learning curve as well as maintenance required. Some teens may need follow up to remember to leave the door open and not overuse detergent and fabric softener....See MoreBest stackable washer/dryer in master closet
Comments (5)In this instance, I might recommend our Speed Queen unitized if Miele is out of budget. While not without minor annoyances, it handles all but king comforters with ease, and is built like a tank. It has a shallow footprint at 28” so will look more sleek than most inside a closet. It will, however, be 27” wide and I think the Miele LiGi is 24”? enduring, correct me if I’m wrong....See Moreenduring
