Comments (16)Thanks everyone. Smick, the roof is polycarbonate panels from LHS, they come in clear, white, smoke and green. dcarch, we hope for snow and hardly ever see it here in central Arkansas, Sorie, the southeast, Sunnyca, it's not real square, but the doors and vents work fine and with a lot of caulk and paint on my part it looks fair and I had thought of the sign over the door idea, DH suggested "The Win-Door Astoria", since it's made from windows and doors. Thanks for the ideas. Comments (11)It certainly can be done...the tile will take the longest, then the hardwoods, carpet takes no time. If your builder gets it all lined up right...ANYTHING can be done. One day, I was at the house and there were about 6 guys doing base and crown, 2 master carpenters doing the fireplace overmantle, panel jambs, wainscoting and all of the built ins in the closet, a guy working on installing the cabinets, and painters working on the exterior! It was crazy, there was a circular saw going in almost every room! BUT...like post above said, it may very well take a little longer. Just mentally prepare yourself. You are so close!! We are about 5 weeks out and while I can't wait to live in our new house...I start hyperventilating thinking about all we have to do between now and then. But it WILL get finished! When the going gets tough...focus on some aspect of your house that your love and think about that. There are things in our layout that would have been nice to change...but it is so much nicer and better suited to our family than our old house! I am focusing on all the positives. Best of luck to you! So exciting!...See MoreWANTED: I'm so excited and I just can't hide it!!
Comments (28)I would be excited too upon receiving that wonderful swap package! The berry bowls from our local potteries look a bit different, but the purpose is the same. Here in NC ours look more like colanders with cut-outs instead of holes and there is a shallow saucer that the bowl sits in to contain the water. That cookbook looks verrrrr-y interesting! Comments (36)Update.... They are at our house today installing the decorative door panels on the ends of the peninsulas (& patching the hole behind the PR mirror they made taking the old medicine cabinet out). Another step toward the end! My DH (at home today) says they look great. [These are 2 of the panels that I had originally eliminated due to budget but am now getting for free...the granite folks irreparably damaged one of my peninsula cabs and when the replacement came it had two "blobs" of glaze on the end (the only issues we've had w/finish, btw. Our KD said that rather than reorder the cabinet they would purchase & install the end panels on both peninsulas so they could move the Project forward! We may eventually put them on the back of the peninsula as well, but not now.] Still a few "minor" things like the final plumbing inspection and getting our granite properly caulked (not caulking b/w counter & wall on one side!) [Sheesh...I would definitely not recommend these guys....our counters are still so uneven at the seam on the sink wall that a glass rocks on it!] Here is a link that might be useful: Passed Final Elec Insp...Mocketts & All!...See Morebanana suit
