What Are You Doing For New Year's Eve?
Comments (26)We'll go out for an early dinner of Mexican food, maybe with friends (and with or without their children), maybe not. New Years Day I cook prime rib for just the two of us...tradition these days. I never again plan to sit around New Years Day sleepless, with a headache from the night before trying to be interested in football, have outgrown that for good :) For many consecutive years we went to the same party at the same club. Finger foods only, lots of alcohol and a band....while we aren't the types to sit on differences and peeves to let them out (publicly) all at once, it was surprising how often friends did just that, and New Years Eve got so it could almost be counted on to be 'fight night' with one couple or another. No thanks, no drama, no more :)...See MoreDo You Have Plans for New Year's Eve?
Comments (26)We will head south on Wednesday. Probably come home on Sunday. Then again we may stay longer. We never know once we get there. I will take my sewing machine and do some sewing for the grandaughters for summer. Never to early to get started. Happy New Years to all. Stay safe in your travels... Comments (30)Back in the good old days, we always had a NYE party, either at our house or at a friend's. It was always the same "social circle" of friends. Played games, had great food, no alcohol. Stayed up to watch the ball drop, get our kiss, and sing Auld Lang Syne. Five of that group have passed on now, and most of us remaining have health problems of some kind. So I will be home alone, but I am a night person and always stay up to watch the ball drop. Earlier in the day I will be making Black-Eyed Pea soup. Gotta have BEPs for New Year's Day. I was given the recipe last year by a new friend and I really like it. Makes a lot, so I put some in containers in the freezer for later. Sue...See MoreNew Year's Eve plans anyone?
Comments (35)Thanks for sharing the various ways you chose to ring in the New Year! So sorry for those of you who are fighting colds/flu and other illnesses, That is not the way you would hope to start the year! bpathome-we had boeuf bourgignon too! We served it with roasted vegetables and crusty French bread. As is typical, we had so many appetizers that we grazed all night. hhireno-I had to laugh at your comment about wishing you had more of those yummy little treats to start today. I made eggnog French toast with the left-over French bread and topped it off with left-over whippped cream and fresh raspberries (from last night's trifle). Then we had an extra bottle of Prosecco, so we "had" to make Mimosa's to go with it! Decadent for sure, but so yummy! We used to go to First Night in Boston, first b/k and then with kiddo's. Now we prefer to lay low in town and have friends over. We are on the Cape for a few days to relax and recharge. I did a long walk today and plan on walking the beach in the a.m....See MoreMarilyn Sue McClintock
