No, and do not plan to have any. One minute till midnight is the 4th anniversary date of my DH's death....so I plan to be in bed sleeping at that time.

Just sit at home and watch tv. If someone drops by we may have some snacks. But I do dialysis or pd and on my cycler by 9 or 10. No drinking for me. Sometimes I am awake and sometimes not.

((((Phoggie)))) No. I can only remember one New Year's Eve that we went anywhere and that was to a friend's house. My husband and some others played poker until 3 a.m. while I sat and watched tv until it went off the air....and static was all that was on. So, you know this was many years ago. I was bored spitless. Never again.

I am sorry Phoggie it is such a sad day for you. We do not drink so we can be out and about. It is really just a family get together. I forgot, last year we did not have our cook out as we were too busy going back and forth many miles to the hospital as my husband had suffered a very bad stroke. We ate at a nice pizza place not far from home.

I can count on one hand with fingers left over the times I've gone anywhere for New Years Eve. The biggest thing that made New Years special to me was getting the day off from work. ☺

I may be babysitting my grand baby. Her parents have worked so hard, I'd like them to enjoy the evening with their friends while I enjoy the baby:)

We're going to see Star Wars!!! Then finish celebrating at home! We'll probably toast to the Force with Diet Coke!

For many years we'd go to dinner and a movie with friends, then we'd watch the fireworks. But the friends separated and then divorced a few years ago. We've decided it's just not worth the crowds and avoiding drunks on the freeways, so we stay home, warm and cozy, and watch a movie.

I go over to a friend's house about a mile away and other friends come over. We watch the ball drop, play games and eat lots of food that everyone brings.

My favorite New Year's Eves happened when we were young. We went to a very fancy restaurant with another couple every year where there were just 2 seatings, and we took the early one. The ladies were given little red footstools for their feet if they were short, and we all sat in red velvet upholstered wing back chairs. The menfolk would end the leisurely dinner with cigars dipped in brandy. However, our friends moved back east, and my brother and his wife joined us one year. But now we just stay home. DH is in bed by then, and I can catch the celebrations on TV if I am interested. But these New Year's Eves at the now shuttered Chez Cary were our very favorite.

If I do anything on New Years Eve it will be attending First Night in Monterey with a girl friend. It depends on the weather and how we feel about going when the time nears. I enjoy First Nights since they are happy and cheerful with lots of entertainment without the alcohol.

We have a tradition to go out to dinner with another couple. We usually go to an Italian restaurant one town over, so pretty local.

We'll stay off the roads, surf the internet, eat popcorn, and watch TV.

I'll be babysitting for my little grandsons. My son and DIL are invited to a house party just up the road (they can walk!). I doubt they'll stay much past midnight, as they're used to getting up at 5:30 a.m.

We don't really do much for New Years, I usually do some night target practice out on the lawn. Other people shooting off fireworks , so a good time for night target shooting ( completely legal here) my neighbors are close but not that close and in my area target practice on your lawn is commen practice. On New Year's Day we will probley go to a freinds house for dinner or I will make a roast

We typically wind up at a friend's house, no one consistently. If we leave the immediate neighborhood, one of us will be the designated driver. We only drink moderately anyway and usually by midnight the drinking is long since finished for both of us.

Karl, nothing personal, but I'm glad to not live in a neighborhood like yours. Yikes.

Sniedly, that's fine I used to live in an area of San Diego not the best but not the worst for 20 years, I always had to basically sleep with one eye open. I've had my car broken into, relatives shot at, gang members trashing my pool and back yard, hookers leaving their mess in my drive ect , ect And had to drive up to LA to get the daughter out during the riots ( store burning beside her complex) I now live in an area I can walk out my front door leave my car unlocked and don't have to worry to much. I know how you feel about guns and I respect that. I hope you have a safe and happy new year

Just checked my calendar and I'm working. I don't celebrate anyway. Next week sometime the kids will come over for our holiday meal. I guess it will be Christmas/New Year's meal. ( :
