Oh wait, they left the name alone. So, even though you were shopping in a glorified Target/Dayton-Hudson store that wasn't anything close to the original Marshall Field's, it was okay because they *called* it Marshall Field's? Got it. People with handouts about bringing Marshall Field's back in front on the State St. store are laughable and silly at best. How exactly are they going to accomplish that? I'd love to meet some of these retail geniuses. Comments (6)I'll strongly disagree about Lazyboy. Although it may be like whenicit says, it could depend on the different lines. We have a sofa, club chair and ottoman made by lazyboy - upper end. The quality is excellent - we have had it almost 11 years, it's in a den, and the sofa especially, gets alot of use. It barely looks used. In fact, I had a different chair recovered and was thinking ahead about possibly reupholstering the sofa and asked the upholstery guy about it when he delivered the chair. He took a look at the sofa, took the cushions off, sat on it, turned it on it's back and looked at the underneath, etc. He told me it was in great condition and would last for many years - that if I chose to, I should have no reservations about recovering it. Many companies make lower end lines they sell through other stores rather than under their own name. For example, I have often heard how the John Deere line that Home Depot or Lowes carries is in no way comparable with what you would buy at a John Deere store. To the original poster - does JCP offer different brands/lines of furniture? If so, I would guess each brand/line is different. Which sofa is it - can you post a link? tina...See Moredh giving in
Comments (22)I'm agree with ima- if dh asks innocently there wouldn't be a problem, but to outright question as to judge my decision is unacceptable. Since my SS has seen disagreements handled so badly by watching my husband and his ex, I have no problem letting him see us handle problems in a more constructive manner when it is appropriate, but I don't think it should be a regular event. My SS has a lot going on in his head as it is and likes to read into things and will take on problems he shouldn't be taking on. Plus, if I say something and my dh agrees, my SS always says that my dh is giving in to me so I prefer to make decisions outside of his hearing- at least on the big stuff. It doesn't matter that my dh does have the ultimate say, his son will always feel it was me being the bad guy. Plus, my dh and I discuss everything, even the small things. Since I drive my ss to school every morning, I let my dh know my ss's mood. It's the same the other way around. The other day my husband took his son to the counselor. My dh called me while he was waiting to let me know my ss was acting up. BM had him over the weekend and he came home saying the same things he always comes home saying after more than a night at his moms- being brainwashed EOW must get tiring. I've learned that a lot of communication- even on things that seem small- seem to alleviate a lot of problems. Comments (24)Do you have a fabric store near you that has drapery fabric? I had a couple of Roman shades made recently. There is a fairly small drapery and upholstery fabric store near me and they keep a list of fabricators. I chose one they had used recently. She made and installed them for around $100 each and that included blackout linings. One was pretty wide. I had to purchase the fabric, etc of course but still came in quite reasonable. She came and measured and told me how much to order. While here she measured other windows so she has the details in case I get ready to do more....See More
