Outlets on island - can you shorten plugmold? Wires?
Comments (5)Mine are less than 24" by task lighting (they come as small as 9"). I have them installed on both sides of the island under the seating area. They were expensive but this company was the only tamper resistant plugmold to meet code here. I had to order them thru my cabinet guy since they didn't sell directly to consumers. This was a few years ago. I believe the wires were run thru the back of the cabinet. Here is a link that might be useful: task lighting...See MorePossible to add 220v kitchen outlet in ground floor condo?
Comments (7)Agreeing with bus_driver that there is too little information... At first glance at the pic of the condo exterior, it looks like a masonry (specifically, mostly concrete) building, not a stick-built structure. It depends on the structural methods used, but some buildings have channels or raceways running through the core that are not visible from a casual walk-around inspection. You'd need access to the building plans and engineering details, but it is possible that there's a usable path that could be exploited here with fairly minimal damage to the interior or exterior walls. One thing I'd look at is how the two HVAC units behind the storage room are fed. That might (or might not) provide a clue. You might get another piece of the puzzle by tracing the HVAC circuit at the panel to see if you can tell where it goes....See MoreKitchen Island Wiring - Distance Between Outlets.
Comments (2)We installed wiremold outlet strip under the edge of the granite counter top. About 1.5" inbord and facing down. Had the granite fabricator leave the channel for the wiremold to fit into and had the electrical feed pulled to that location before the counter was installed. Wiremold is held to bottom of granite with an industrial adhesive and the wiremold itself is the junction box for termination of the romex cable. End result is 4 outlets on each end of the island completly out of sight and very accessable....See More2 new outlets, each controlled by a switch - wiring question
Comments (1)First, you must use wire approved for wet locations (practically this means individual THWN conductors). Wire the power to the first box and make a connection over to the second. Make sure the circuit you are tapping into is legal to use for what you are doing (i.e., not one dedicated for something else, bathroom, kitchen, laundry, etc...)....See MoreRon Natalie
