How can I make the All fridge all freezer work in 79" alcove?

I want to install the Electrolux all fridge all freezer in a 79" wide alcove space that is 24" deep. The cutout for the units needs to be 66" wide and I want to use the trim kit as well which after install is 67 1/4" wide. What should I use to fill the remaining space on the sides and should I use two 15" H x 24" D cabinets above? if so how do I make this work I am using Diamond Cabinets. Kitchen is already doe so this is a retrofit. Cabinets are still available. (Current pantry units in this space are 90" tall with 6" crown.) Thanks Kim

I'd do a pantry pull out only on the freezer side. Or, maybe a broom closet there, same idea.

We almost did this but decided against it and went with a garage 2nd refrigerator because if we decide to move away from that type of unit there are few replacement options without re-doing the cabinetry which makes a dead-fridge a very very expensive fix. Just something to think about...

Broom closet because you only have 6". Read the info on the trim kit. Mine said 73" opening for my Electrolux trim kit for the twins.

I want to put a follow up on this thread. The GE Monogram all fridge all freezer units we purchased are both giving us problems that, according to the independent service technician, are showing up in more and more older models. In other words as the units age they develop these issues. I guess we are "lucky" in that they happened while we were still in warranty. First, the fridge was getting moldy. Mold was growing on the walls, shelves and even condiment containers and other containers that potentially are in the fridge for a while. I am cleaning the fridge every weekend, spending a couple hours at a time on it. Turns out that GE considers this within normal functioning parameters as the fridge is still getting cold enough. It is also developing rust. According to the technician - there is no fix for this. Second, the freezer is growing BIG hunks of frost on the back wall and according to the same technician this is indicative of "something big about to happen" although he refused to elaborate. So now I have two built in, custom panelled appliances purchased with the intent that they last MANY years and which will now need to be replaced. Be warned - stay away or if you must go with this line - at least go in with your eyes open.

I wrote in this forum seven years ago about the Frigidaire all-freezer and all-refrigerator combo. We installed them as past of a major condo remodel - and have been TOTALLY happy with our choice. They are cabinet depth with zero clearance - a big deal for us. We find the refrigerator space "adequate," though a hidden benefit of the less-deep shelves is that we have no biology experiments molding away undiscovered in the back! The freezer space is awesome! Not to mention the jaw-dropping looks we get when visitors first enter our kitchen! Again, it's seven years later, and we have not had one single issue with the pair. If we build a new house, the kitchen will be planned around this same Frigidaire combo. Not sure the Electrolux-branded pair are worth the extra $$$, as they also make the Frigidaire units

We have 2 Elux all-fridges and 1 all-freezer. We purchased them in 2007, but moved in in 2008 and started using them. So, it's 6 1/2 yrs later, and we've had no service calls. 1 of the fridge's interior light has a will of its own, so doesn't always come on, and the readout occasionally tries to give me an error code. From what I could find online, that code is related to the evaporator fan motor... But it keeps working and the code goes away. It's done that for a few years now. I haven't had it checked. Meant to at first, but the fridge keeps working fine, so at this point, I'm figuring it's a false alarm. The other fridge and the freezer have had absolutely no problems. I know this is just one family's experience and opinion, and you're looking for more stats for a greater number of units, but I think they're a good bet. The only reason I might not buy them again is the way the drawers are attached to the shelves above so they're a pain to take out and get clean. Maybe they've changed that by now.

Price negotiations are variable. In this case I would deal only with the manager, in person, using cash and figure the price you want including tax to get the deal done. Go to him, ask him to work with you to get a deal done, point out the damage, finalize the warranty, make the offer and be ready to walk. In fact, taking a lap around the area to let him think about losing your sale can be the decider. It kind of restarts the process and almost requires him to modify his position.

beachem which trim kit did you get? There is the 72" collar trim kits that is part ECP7272SS which doesn't have the louvered thing over the top. That could probably work for me if I used two 3" refrigerator panels (one on each side) from the cabinet...just not sure how I would attach the cabinets above, Then there is the TRIMKITSS1 that has the louvered top but is only 67 1/4" wide when in installed.

I got the one that's 84" high double louvered. I'm caulking and painting right now so can't look it up.

I wasn't planning on any panel but simply fit it between two tall cabinets. I am putting wall cabinets above the fridge and tall cabs.

You can probably use a 3/4" panel against the wall, slide the fridge and trim kit against it then put the 6" broom closet on the other side. This would maximize your storage.

Ok I could use the ECP8472SS and not use any cabinets above the fridge. I don't reallly need the space above the fridge & then I could install a 3" panel fridge on each side which will bring me to 78". I'd rather have the symmetry than a useless cabinet on the side. Beachem which model Electrolux fridge did you order?

IIRC, there is a Frigidaire similar version of this combination, as well as Kenmore.

Get the filler panel for slightly larger than 3" so that it can be trimmed down to fit your alcove. Otherwise it might be 1/2" too short on either side pending upon your walls.

I got the EI32AR80QS IQ TOUCH twins. I got a great deal on them after checking online constantly. Between the sale price and rebate, it was less than $1500 for each.

Not sure if I looked at the Frigidaire and passed it up. I measure the inside shelf of all the built ins including Sub Zero and the Electrolux gave me 14" depth. Many of the rest were pathetic.

This is how my bathroom fridge looks right now for two people. If you add in the rest of the family, I need as much space as possible. Mind you, this is with buying food every two days.

That is a much better price than I was quoted. I was quoted $2858 for the fridge and freezer model FPRU19F8RF & FPFU19F8RF. May I ask if it is the same model #s and if so was that from a local place or online? Thanks Kim
