What online Nursery would you use/ or not use again?
Comments (8)My top three.... 1. Encanto Farms www.figs4fun.com Nobody knows figs like Jon. You will not likely find anyone here who has a bad thing to say about him or his figs. The only caution is if you're in a state which requires a phytosanitary certificate. 2. Burnt Ridge Nursery www.burntridgenursery.com I've placed an order with BR each year for the past 8, spending between $80 and $150 each year. Their website is great and their non-fig selection will leave you wanting more than just figs. Plants are very good for the prices (just don't expect a 6 foot tree for $15) Shipping seems high, but compared to other west coast nurseries is actually very reasonable. (and I don't worry about the plants making the transit across country if they're from BR) 3. Edible Landscaping www.eat-it.com Mike is another great resource. He offers a great selection of sizes and is currently running specials on some fig varieties. He frequently has varieties not listed on the site (email him) but if you read through the Q & A on the forum (the forum there) you can see the varieties he might have that aren't currently listed. EBAY is truly buyer beware. There are people here who do sell there, and I'd buy from any of them, but unless I KNOW who the seller is, I do NOT buy figs (or cuttings) from ebay. ~Chills...See MoreTablecloth vs. no tablecloth....
Comments (8)I am so glad to see there are others like me in this world. I love to change things around. I think it started when my husband was in the Navy and I got bored staying at home so I would move the furniture around. My husband said he was afraid to sit down because he was never sure where the chair was going to be. I am older now and although I have a lot of room in my house, I don't have the energy to do the changes so I have to limit it. I love table linens and have a lot of vintage tablecloths. I don't use a tablecloth on my glass table in the dining room, but I do use one in my kitchen. I also use one on the table on the patio. It is just my hubby and me most of the time but I use them even for the grandchildren - no one will appreciate the linens the way I do so I plan to enjoy them as long as I can - and the grandchildren are really good about not spilling anything on them but if they do, no matter, nothing is more precious than they are. I absolutely love to change out my comforter on my bed but not because of the season - we don't really have a winter here in the south. I have a passion for pink and rose colors and I have tried to move in another direction by way of color throughout the house. So, I now have blue in my bedroom but when I am shopping I head right to the beautiful pink paisley at Belks the other night - but I will have to wait a while - $386.00 (on sale from $546.00) for just the comforter is a bit more than I want to pay now....See MoreWould you use the Slow Cooker while you sleep?
Comments (33)Hey there, "other young Annie"! I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience, it does happen, but not often. Elery really IS an electrician, was for years before he became management. He assures me that if a house is wired correctly and to code, a malfunctioning small appliance will blow the breaker. A malfunctioning themostat on a gas oven could cause a very large explosion. So, as long as the wiring in your house is good, small appliances are very safe. On the other hand, 1,000 structure fires are caused annually by stoves, according to the Fire Prevention Council. In 2002, there were 30 deaths in residential house fires caused by gas stoves, another 70 caused by electric stoves and 20 caused by "other stoves". 10 were caused by "other electric cooking methods". Under "other selected equipment", 20 deaths were caused by fires caused by dryers. None were suffered from audio/visual equipment, washing machines, refrigerators, freezers, torches or shop/garden tools. So, could there be a problem? Yeah, I suppose so, especailly if you have an older home where the wiring might not be modern. Still, your chances of having a fire caused by a crock pot is pretty miniscule. The only caution is that you should not set it on the counter right under a cupboard as the trapped heat could cause problems. Comments (18)Lyn . Thank you for working so hard and posting those otheir items. Becky led. me to the Designer's Instagram page from where this pic orginated apparently. I think the fabric is part of the watercolor fabric trend -. Not sure if it is a trend, but I noticed several watercolor looking ikat and trellis patterns in fabrics, as well as rugs. Maybe it is "fern green" . Who knows? My search continues. It is a good thing that I plan my holiday tablescapes months in advance. Everdebz-. I really like the second pic you posted-. The feathery (kinda peacock) pattern may work as a tree drape for my jewel tone Three Kings Christmas tablescape next year. I just found some bright teal and gold peacock ribbon for the coordinating tree....See MoreKippy
