should I install sconces?

Butternut

I'm still working on this horrid fireplace. Here is where I started.

I want to get this custom cast stone mantel and drywall over the top of the stone, but have been worrying about the installation and need to find the right person before I place the order.

this is the stock photo

here is the drawing they did for me

Here it is superimposed on my existing fireplace. Ignore the colors. I tried to make the dimensions of each item I placed on the mantel fairly accurate, but I don't own any of that.

The resulting space over the mantel ends up being oddly shaped. The hearth is high and the mantel is high, but it cannot be lowered.

The question is whether or not to add sconces to either side of the space above the mantel while I have the walls open and torn up.

I think I would choose something fairly simple like this. I can't decide if it would make the space better or it would make it more awkward.

As a reminder, here are the items I've chosen for the rest of the room.

So - sconces or no sconces?
