Should I do sconces or something else...

Or should I find a different mirror?

I love this mirror but it doesn't leave too much room on the left side for a sconce. I've been looking at various types but I haven't found one skinny enough so I could do one on each side. What do you think?

It doesn't really look like you have room for one on each side of the mirror. What about one on each side wall, like this?

That's a thought. To the right of the sink is the um.... terlet (as Archie Bunker used to say) so it wouldn't be as nice a package as in the picture you posted. Do you think it would look bad to put one on the side wall like in your picture and one to the right of the mirror?

Agnes---when I say walk---it sounds like wall-k--- good grief; woman---you're tall-king about 'L' words and I'm back in the old days listening to '50's music on our PBS station!!! We used to hear them on Lawrence Well-k, also!!! Guffaw! You know, I'm hardly ever lonely---too busy---but this music reminds me of youthful days---I'm going to call up my former hubby and have a chat---he remembers everything about every war, every administration, evry newsy piece, all the old town happenings. I'll just zone out for awhile as he just chats away! If I had a fella these days, all I'd want to do is go for rides in his PU with a nice fresh cup of coffee---he can talk and drive, or just drive---it doesn't matter; I just want to go for a ride down the road in a PU! ----now, aren't you sorry you asked if 'L's were pronounced?

High bush blueberries will sucker from the base. And I think that's what you're seeing. High bush blueberries are wonderful, native, easy care shrubs with year round interest. One of my favorites.

BM Aura gloppy on trim... Should I choose something else?

I also love Aura for painting walls but would not use it on trim. If the guys your GC is using to paint aren't familiar with it, it is applied differently (not in a W and filled in like the old days). There is a video on the BM website on how to apply it. It is a beautiful finish when applied correctly. I used Regal Select on my front door and hated it! Years later and it still feels not quite dry ... dirt sticks to it like crazy and I can still dent the finish with a fingernail. I did use a dark color, but I will never use that paint again.

The word comes from the Latin for sleep. That's basically what deciduous trees do in Winter. Leaves fall so they're not pushing water around the tree, sap just ticks around slowly. A bit like hibernation. That's what your plum should be doing now.

Honestly, your mirror is so ornate that I don't think you really need anything more on that wall. I think it'd look too busy.

Why not just one sconce on the same wall the door is on? I don't think you need a pair. Gorgeous mirror!

I personally would let that beautiful mirror stand alone, as others have said. It would overshadow simple, thin sconces and I feel you don't have the room or the need for fancy ones.

I would do one of these on each side of the mirror, about at the point above the shoulders where there is a kind of swag piece pointed down on the inside of the mirror.

I definitely think you need lighting in that area.

One on the side wall, not the mirror wall is my vote, Or none at all, as the mirror is very ornate as it is.

Here's another option, I suppose. There are many other styles. This just happen to be the first one to come up when I googled. It might just be perfect as it appears to match the style of the vanity.

If you don't mind me saying, I actually think the towel ring distracts from the mirror. Is it possible to put it on the opposite wall?

I'm going to agree about the towel ring -- it's too big for that area and detracts from the mirror. If you absolutely want to have a towel hanging there, I'd use a small decorative hook instead of the ring.

thanks prairie, the color is BM Gray Cashmere 2138-60. The lighting is the Thomasville collection, the item # is P2724-101. I purchased them at Build.com, a site for contractor's, but they are sold at many other web sites. The mirrors are from Lowe's.

I see your problem. Here's another thought: could you swag a mini chadelier/pendant from above? I assume you need lighting for that area. Perhaps something vintage. Beautiful mirror, by the way!

Thank you ALL so very much for all your ideas! I thought about a mini chandelier too. The towel ring is going to be moved - I had it there prior to finding the mirror and I agree it is not the right place for it. I am trying to decide on paint color or wallpaper, lighting, etc. so in the interest of not putting more holes in the walls I just left that there until other decisions are made.

I am happy to see so many of you like the mirror as I thought it was quite the find to go with the ornate cabinet. But I must admit you all have set me on a different path with the lighting because I was looking at ornate and you are right, too much ornate will not do.

I will keep you posted and thanks so much for your help.
