You are brave to post what you consider a decorating faux paus. Maybe a fix would be to tint the white grout on the turquoise to the same color used for the terracotta tiling. It would tone it down. If not practical or affordable, you may have to stick with a very subdued décor, as the turquoise tile is stealing the show all by itself. Agree with errant that decorating will have to echo or repeat the turquoise.

It's not perfect, but I think if you decorate with the two colors (rust and teal?), it will look good.

I would live with it. It could acheive what you wanted once the bathroom is decorated. If you can't live with it you could cover all of the space behind the vanity with a mirror. I love the two terracotta tiles. I agree with changing the grout on the blue tile, I wonder if there is a blue/tuquoise grout?

BTW, I forgot to mention that the tile you used on the floor is very pretty! Can you tell us more about it?

Are you using glass around the shower? If you are, that will be a tight squeeze around the toilet! Are you building outside of the US?

You could put a mirror above the sink and that way you would not see as much of the turquoise tile. But I think some nice towels or even maybe an art print that marries the terracotta teal and white.

Are you going to have glass around the shower? If so, you'll have extremely tight clearance accessing the toilet.

With glass, that will be a tough space to use for someone with mobility or weight issues.

The tile I'm okay with. However, it doesn't look like that toilet placement will come close to passing code. The minimums are 15 " clearance from each side of the toilet centerline, and at least 21" from the front of the toilet to the facing wall. Has this been inspected?

Those don't look like North American shower fixtures. There is also a floor drain in the toilet area. I could be wrong but this looks like a bathroom somewhere other than US or Canada. That said, 12" to centerline is grandfathered in old construction remodeling where I live, 15" is required in the city for new construction, and some suburbs require 18" in new construction.

I agree: if the OP is not in the U.S., all bets are off. However, in all the areas I've lived in in the U.S., whatever was installed in prior years was grandfathered in as long as it was pre-code or complied with the code at the time it was installed. However, once one started remodeling, anything that got touched needed to be brought up to current code.

Thank you for your advice! I'm from the Philippines. We have general building laws, but I'm not aware of any rules regarding toilet clearance. Btw, we plan to put a curved shower rod and curtain since we're pretty aware of the space problem. My husband insists on a bathroom for every bedroom so we had to compromise with the bathroom space.

The floor tile is called "Inverary Rojo" by Plaza tiles. It's a Spanish brand, I think. For the other bathroom, we're using "Inverary Gris", which is a blue and white version.

Your design advice is great! Thank you everyone! It never occurred to me to just "go with the flow" and just add decor that mirrors the Terra cotta and teal colors. I think that would really improve things. I'll also have to look into changing the color of the grout to match the mosaic tiles. That was my initial idea as well.

So do I change the grout to turquoise or terracotta? I was thinking changing it to turquoise would give it less of a "tile-y" look and soften things a bit.

Ideally teal Grout Would b best but the challenge Would b to Find perfect match. Mismatched Grout Would b disastrous IMO.

You can ck locally or online for grout colorant, it comes in teal and you just paint over existing grout. Again, you'd have to test for match. You'd need to seal colorant as the water from showering will degrade it if not sealed. Good luck
