I am not sure what you mean either about custom sizing? I had a roommate in college who had her bed custom made because her room was small. She even had the mattress custom-sized. (Don't ask about being able to afford that in college!) The problem with custom sizing beds is dealing with sheets and bedding.

beagles, that's what i was thinking....yours looks fab!! are u pleased with it and did it meet your expectations?? did u have dutchwood do it?? no i would not have them make the bed, I'm ok with buying that. i have a lot of dead space with current furniture and we need to use every inch of what we have. i would have the drawers/cabinets made and possible nightstands depending on how we design the room....thanks girls!!

sprtphntc, yup I had Dutchwood do it. I believe it was somewhere around $10K for the job, perhaps a bit less... if I remember right (not including the fireplace). They are big cabinets- tall and long. Yes, I was delighted with the cabinets which exceeded my expectations as dutchwood always does :)

They had to deal w/ some tricky issues like poorly placed vents, which were creatively accommodated by re-directing air out the sides in the upper middle cabinets above the door. There is also electrical and a pull-out for a small TV in one of the cabinets, although we did not end up putting a TV in there.

Jason (from DW) did say he would make me night stands, but I have Jessica McClintock tables in there that I like so I didn't do that.

Sure. DH made ours. To 6.5ft. Armoire that flank our bed. Drawers/cupboard/night stand in one. He also made a vanity/dressing table for me. In-laws gave us money at our wedding for a bedroom suit. To get the quality we wanted at the price point we were willing to spend it was the only option. We knew exactly what we wanted, and didn't want. 30 years in we still have just what we want, and we have changed the house we live in three times.

arcy_gw, interesting. so u can take the furniture with you?? i just assumed it would be nailed to the wall, like kitchen cabinets, so they would be permanent. that's good to know !! would love to see a pic if possible.

we sent them our design for cabs in FR and they came in over the price we received from the company who did our kitchen, so we just went with them.

we will have to a give it some more thought and planning., this is in the very early stages., we still have to finish our FR and outdoor project in the Spring., this is on the back burner, but my wheels are already spinning!!! i am so ready for a new bedroom., we have had the furniture for over 27 years and the room needs new carpet and paint, i just want to start already!!!
