Would this art work in my living room?
Comments (18)The wall color is SW Ramie. The chair was my grandmothers, and it is just sort of a placeholder right now. I have been searching for new chairs. I would really like to get 2 chairs, but I am unsure how to arrange everything. I would also like to get a new rug--I've been coveting a real hand-knotted forever. The current rug is very nice, 100% wool Couristan machine woven. It is in the same line as My3dog's lovely living room rug. They have been selling this line of rugs in the last year at Tuesday morning for less than half price. It doesn't come off quite as pale in person. I want to eventually move it into my bedroom, where it will be perfect. Does anyone have recommendations for a rug? What color scheme? I really like some of the orientals that are a bit more modern without a really tight or busy pattern. Something maybe like this: This rug is from Williams Sonoma home, and is way out of my price range at over $2K. Is it possible to get a hand-knotted for around $1K? I need at least an 8x10....See Morename letters - my first arts project for the house
Comments (7)I originally told myself I wouldn't post the picture of it done, but what are people going to do with my last name and a post on a home decorating/repair forum? Here's a picture of the finished product. As a bonus, you also get a picture of my husband posing with Izzy (the 2nd O on the sign) and Izzy's sister Candy (the R) sneaking into the picture in the window on the left. We decided after hanging the sign that now we need to spend the $4 and replace the house numbers, too. And for the curious, yes we ARE getting new windows and no those blinds are NOT staying....See MoreE.stand is back together. Adjust and help with art please...
Comments (44)Wanted to report back about the room since I've lived with it for some time. I really like it this way. I think it looks better IRL than these photos. Which is really true I don't know but what I'm seeing everyday is the better so that makes me happy. The chair facing the furniture works well too. I sat there plenty of times for chit chatting while company was over. I'm finally at the point where I'm ok with getting a rug. The carpet is starting to look more worn in some areas, IMO, even though nobody seems to be able to see this. It will help ground the space more. When it's time to replace maybe we'll go with hardwood. I'm still on the fence since I like vacuuming carpet. :) I also want to get a leather ottoman. Family and friends who've seen my house through all the stages like this arrangement. Any other ideas before I call the main bones of the room good? Stay tuned for a rug thread at some point. I'll do some mock ups but of course will want feedback on size and color....See MoreNeed help selecting artwork that will compliment purple artwork
Comments (31)Thanks all. I did go with the Allure Blossom. It's coming today. I don't think I could go with a mirror on that wall because there is a hutch to the right which has mirrors in it. I really like the purple and yellow bowl from Pier One; will see if they still have it or something similar. Might be sending more pictures of my next dilemma in the living room. Another picture where I can't seem to find another piece of art that compliments....See Moresixkeys
