Do you prefer powder or liquid laundry detergent?
Comments (16)I use both but prefer liquids. Much easier diluted although the powders of late seem to dissolve much better than 20 years ago. A liquid spill is far easier to clean up than a powder spill and powders are just messier. But it's not a real big deal either way. I've learned to be more careful. I used mostly powder then switched to liquid until about 2 years ago and went to Great Value enzyme powder, and tried Sun, a non-enzyme powder then tried Tide dye & perfume free and Gain liquid, oh and also Tide Regular 2x and have some Arm & Hammer left too. So I'm using a variety of products. Let's see, offhand I know of 6 different ones down there! I gave away the Spring liquid because I itched from it. And it looks like I might get to try out another different one. I never thought I'd enjoy doing laundry! LOL...See More*blush* How do you use powder detergent in newer machines?
Comments (3)I always add the powdered detergent directly on to the dry clothes in my FL and then start the machine. I've never had a splotch. I also add dry bleach at the same time. My daughter's FL has a place in the top of the machine to add the detergent, so she doesn't put it directly on the dry clothes. I added powdered detergent to the dry clothes in my top loader too. Never had a splotch on those clothes either. I think the agitation is enough to get the powder well dissolved. I use either Charlie's Soap or Tide HE. Both work well. Enjoy...See MoreHow do you store your oils when using them?
Comments (7)I had a toasted sesame oil go rancid in the fridge since so little is needed for a dish or dressing. I but the smallest container for the less used oils. I now date them on top with a sharpee as i do spices and baking powder. Coconut oil has a very long shelf life and not needed to fridge. When warmed i mix it with other oils to make it pourable for some cooking and also for body lotion in small batches. So yes, keep your specialty oils in the fridge in their original containers. I've had this bottle and spout for probably 6 yrs. Re-fill often so it sits out like Annie for drizzling and dressings. (costco has a great organic evoo). And it goes through the dishwasher spout and all. I recently purchased a vinegar that came with a spout and the spout was garbage. Did not stay on and made a mess. This spout came in a 3pack and the others are still in the misc. drawer not yet needed so it is a quality one. (last night was pizza night, yummy)...See MoreHow much detergent do you use in your Top Loader
Comments (11)Long time lurker, first time poster . . . I have a GE top loader, hard water, three young kids and a large dog. Laundry here is quite dirty and I need a lot of detergent to get things clean. For a big load of whites I use the powder Tide scoop full (or Persil pearls lid full) plus double the dose of Oxyclean and I always turn on Auto Soak. For colours and darks I use a liquid up to line 5 on the dosing cap (Cheer or Tide). Mamapinky I hear you on the pods. Unless I am doing a load of my clothing only, or freshening things up, I need two minimum and usually three. I do buy them from time to time because I can't resist trying something new, but they are not cost effective at all....See Moresandy1616
