Liquid and powder detergent front load
Comments (16)oranili: "So why should i use this liquid ?" What I am about to write will challenge some semi-religious convictions; that is not my intent. One needs always to respect religious beliefs, and I do. Powder detergent can perform no function at all until it is dissolved in the wash water ... at which point it becomes a liquid detergent. By the time that it does, or can do, anything, every laundry detergent is a liquid detergent. A liquid detergent (out of the bottle) has a head start in dissolving in the wash water over a powder detergent (out of the box). It takes powder a longer time to dissolve into water than it takes a liquid detergent to mix with water...See MoreDetergent suggestions/liquid or powder?
Comments (14)I've been using FL machines for over 10 years and I have never had a mold issue. My previous machine didn't even have a heater so no sanitize and still no mold. I have always left my door open after washing. With my new Miele I even remove the detergent drawer and rinse out the fabric softener compartment. I did notice on my Frigidaire that mold was forming in the detergent drawer as I never thought to leave it open. Don't want to make that mistake with my Miele. I have used mostly liquid detergent and fabric softener. A large part of those 10 years it was Tide and Downy. A few years ago I "greened" up and use only "more natural" fabric softener (only one is awesome to me - Shaklee Fresh Laundry). I have an "arsenal" of detergents; most of them greener choices but a few not so. I do own Persil in various flavors but can only really tolerate the Sensitive version (smell wise). I also have Tide HE Free Coldwater for when I really need it. Mostly I use Vaska, Clorox Greenworks and lately Seventh Generation liquid and powder. I have several others I use sometimes. I'm a bit of a product addict - Larsi and I ;) I highly recommend you use HE detergent. See attached link. If you have mud stains or ground-in soil or dirt, then powder detergent will work best. If, on the other hand, you're working with more oily dirt, like food stains, you should use a liquid detergent. Even Miele told me this. I think it's wise to own both a powder and a liquid. I do and it's working for me ;) Good luck! Let us know how it's working for you. Comments (7)OK, I see your plight! Clorox 2 is excellent for removing most stains and boosting the power of your detergent. On your samsung, do you have a sanitize cycle? Does it Pre-wash before the main wash? In most cases it should go into the main wash/no pre wash when using this cycle. Extend this cycle to the max with an extra rinse. Use your Tide He along with Clorox 2 to start the whitening process using the sanitize cycle. You may use LCB since it will be in the first rinse. It Will take up to 3 wash cycles to see improvement. Also if you can get your hands on STPP this will also help getting your whites to where they suppose to be. 2 Tbs. of this stuff with your detergent will make a big difference how detergents suppose to work. Give it a try! The secret for using Clorox 2. Test garment for color fast to start. Pour on stains and rub in gently then pour a little more and roll garment into a ball so Clorox 2 will not dry out and wait 15-30 minutes then wash as normal. Good luck and keep us posted how you doing in this thread. Comments (7)I have a Maytag Bravos washer. I use both powder and liquid detergents, depending on the type laundry I wash and wash temp. I always use liquid detergents when washing laundry in cold water, as powders don't seem to dissolve as well in cold water. When I wash white/light delicates in cold water, I use Woolite HE liquid detergent (I've been using a BIG bottle I got at BJ's warehouse store on sale and w/a coupon, and I still have more than half the bottle). When I wash sturdier whites/light clothes which must be washed in cold water, I use Tide HE w/bleach liquid. I wash comforters and blankets in cold or warm water w/liquid detergent. When washing laundry in warm water, it depends on what I'm washing. I prefer liquid detergents for dark clothes. I really like Woolite for Darks, but it is hard to find in an HE formula, and I cannot find Cheer HE for Darks anymore, so I usually use Tide HE Total Care. It works well. I generally use powdered detergent when I wash in hot water, as I think it performs best in hot water. I always wash towels and white cottons like guys' socks, undies, and T-shirts in hot water (sometimes sheets). I do like to use ERA HE liquid on dirty/greasy jeans and other such laundry. It sounds like I have a veritable store of detergents, LOL. I've "collected" them over the last couple of years, buying most of them at BJ's in great big sizes that last for months and months. When one runs out, I look for one of these on sale and almost always use coupons too....See Moreolympiceagle
