~My New Rug~
Comments (8)OMG Ourhome we have the same taste!!!! I bought this rug about 8 months ago for our bedroom the 5x7, we have a small room and just a queensize bed. I LOVE this rug, it totally pulled my room together. I can't wait to see your pictures to see what colors you use with it! I hope you love your rug as much as I do. :-)...See MoreI'd like your opinion on this CL rug for my LR
Comments (11)Thank you for all the thoughts and opinions. I don't know if this additional info/pic will help clarify anything for anyone, but here goes anyway. This picture gives you a better idea of the true colors in the current rug. It's not quite that bright IRL, but I am never able to capture IRL photos with my camera. For example, the table you see just a bit of in the pic is much more red, not orange at all. And here is a link to the same CL rug from the Macy's site. If you look at it there, you can scroll over it to take a closer look. I will also add that I have considered going in a completely different direction, as bestyears suggested. I have even thought about simply having a piece of broadloom bound and getting exactly the dimensions I need in that room. I still do have a concern about the larger size of the CL rug compared to the current rug. No one has commented on whether or not they feel the CL rug at 8'8" X 12' would be too large. I think the direction I'm going with this whole make-over, is to find a rug that works with the sofa because that is DEFINITELY staying. Then, after I have a rug, I'll figure out the chairs. Does that seem like a logical way to approach the "make-over"? Here is a link that might be useful: Karastan rug at Macy's...See Morenew CL loveseat - how did I do?
Comments (64)Thanks, Loribee. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Hubby says we can head over to Macy's tomorrow to look at the Chloe and a few other chairs. Maybe look at ottomans too because Cassie has decided she loves the loveseat with the ottoman from my office for her head. :) springmeadow - I was hoping that too. But the backs of them, where you place your head, were almost brown with dirt and wear. Ditto the arms. Threadbare in those places. Then we checked them over to see if they would be worth recovering, even though it would be expensive, but hubby said there was evidence of breakage at the bottom of one and on the leg of the other. Still looking. I would really like to keep it at around $500/$600 a chair, if possible. The Chloe is on sale right now for $449....See MoreNew CL score-paint or?
Comments (7)OMG! I have that same piece in my house! I got mine at a garage sale approx 10 years ago as something to use until I could afford better. It is one of the few pieces I have that I am not fond of for keeping long term. I have plans to paint it a glossy black, change the hardware and paint the back part of the interior a silver or glossy white or find a pretty wallpaper in a subdued pattern (maybe a foil type pattern). It has served its purpose for many years but it needs sprucing up. I will always keep an eye out for an antique or vintage piece in wood to replace it, but will save our money in the meantime. Too many other things have a claim on any money that comes in for now, lol.... I do better when I chance across something like that than when I seek it out specifically. As a real estate agent, I often get an early chance at things before they have the garage sale or try CL. I always ask if they are selling things if I see something I love and I know they are downsizing or moving far. I have scored some great finds that way. In the meantime, I will be messing with my version of this breakfront in the Spring when I can get to projects again. I can't wait to see how yours comes out and I may shamelessly steal some ideas or techniques from you, lol........See Moresixkeys
