Wodka: Yes, that is my family room. Thank you so much for your kind words! It has been a long, slow process to complete. We are tackling the house room by room actually item by item--VERY slowly since our budget is limited. I have a mix of hand-me-downs, vintage estate sale items, true antiques, and new furnishings. It is tempting to run out to one of the big box type stores just to "complete" the room but I know that I will be much more satisfied in the long run if I take the time to find one-of-a-kind, high quality items. It is frustrating to live in a hodge-podge while the process is going on but I am finally starting to feel like it will be worth it in the end. In the picture above, I have a table & chair plotted. I actually just ordered the chair today! I have waited over two years for that chair and have lived with a broken-down lazyboy that does not match anything in the room. The chair I ordered will be lovely & worth the wait - it is a Hancock & Moore piece. Sheesharee: That painting is one of my favorite items in our home. I found the painting at an antique store in the fall of 2006 and fell in love with it immediately! Everything was perfect including the hand-carved frame. I raved about it for the next few months and could not get it out of my mind. I was looking high and low for something "similar" but closer to a price that I was comfortable spending. When my husband presented it to me at Christmas that year, I was in tears! The scene reminds me of the area that my husband proposed to me at. My biggest disappointment in the room is the ottoman. I don't feel that the style or quality are quite "right" for the room but it serves a function for now. The ottoman was originally a soft leather in the perfect caramel tone. I guess that my pre-school daughter did not appreciate it - she colored all over it in permanent ink. I tried everything and could not get the stains out. It was an inexpensive piece to begin with (clubfurniture.com) so I hated to invest much in recovering the piece. The material that is now on it is a vinyl. I would love to have some decorations on it (maybe a tray, some books, etc) but with 2 preschoolers running around, items have trouble remaining on the ottoman.

Elena, I just love your room! It's exotic and has passion and soul. It's marvelous. Here is a torchiere I like better for you. Or perhaps you like this one? Of coures this floor lamp would be yummy. If I had the money I'd get this one. I've always loved these. If you have a base for it (thrift store?) this handmade lampshade would be yummy on a floor lamp. I have a lampshade from this lady (even though I know how to make my own, so you know I really wanted it) and her quality is great -- I love mine. You could do a pair of these on your table lamps. Or, maybe you like this brown one? This red one is a lot like the one I bought. It sure is fun spending someone else's money! hehe I should stop. I have no idea if you'd like any of these. If you do, there are always more like this on eBay... be sure to look in people's shops for more styles.

It's fun to see all the contradicting opinions here, with one person liking what the next person dislikes. I wish I could please all of you and myself at the same time. However, in the long run I'm the one who has to live with my choices, and I do like this pale rug and the pale blue curtains. Arlene, I'm so over taking things back, and paying the return postage is not fun. I had chosen the more colorful drapes but was talked into buying the other ones by people here who seem to know what goes together, so I'll stick with those. The red rug isn't going to get any bigger so I'll have to live with the gray edges around it. Something tells me I'll keep making mistakes, but they'll probably be different mistakes.

No, same as I mentioned to you two times prior, it needs to acclimate in your home (sometimes 2-3 weeks) with the HVAC running and the humidity controlled. One of the flooring pros stated you needed to check the moisture levels in both the flooring and the subfloor. Hopefully you have no issues as you more than likely will have nothing to fall back on if you do.................................
