The two models differ only on two points (and a slight difference in depth measurement from rear panel to front panel regards to the handle difference): CX is a "classic" model with 1) a handle set into the upper trim, and 2) an LCD panel to provide visual feedback of the cycle time, operation sequence (prewash, wash, rinse, drying), and alphanumeric fault codes during a malfunction. FX is a "designer" model with 1) a towel-bar kind of handle, and 2) no LCD. There is no mechanical difference between them regards to flood protection. ALL models are the same on that point. The web site simply has editorial differences between the various models in how the features & info are described/stated. At least one of the models (I didn't check them all) has both statements ("Flood protection built in" and "Three stage flood protection") on it.

No. I installed mine ... uninstalled, moved it to a different house, installed again. Never any trouble with that. Main things are follow the instructions for moisture-proofing the cabinetry cavity, route the drain hoses properly, level it, and anchor the unit correctly with the side and top tabs.

Check the connection where the hose enters the sink drain. Both hose ends should be parallel to the floor, not stacked one on top of the other. Don't take it off if its not, you should be able to gently twist it near the drain, not the hose end. You might try taking the whole drain thing apart and cleaning it. First pump the water out. If you turn on the drawer, the first bit of noise is it pumping the water out - so turn it on, let that sorta grinding noise happen and turn it off. The take out the racks, the blade, the filter, the ring that holds the filter plate, the filter plate, the ring that holds the motor and lift the motor. Remove all the water with a sponge and also any soggy bits of stuff. Rinse the other stuff out in the sink. Reassemble. Clean the dishwasher guts by running an empty rinse cycle and throw in some tang or a little lemonade mix or something else that contains citric acid into the bottom first.

My kitchen and bath renovations are scheduled to begin tomorrow. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight! I, too, have a small kitchen and I live alone, so I opted for the Bosch 18-inch dishwasher. I preferred the conventional-type dishwasher thinking that I'd have an easier time fitting tall items. Turns out the 18-inch panel-ready is quite a bit more costly than a standard model, about $850. I treated myself and made room for a 12-inch wide undercounter wine fridge. Mine is a Danby, and I think it was $650. I'm pretty sure beverage cans will fit as well as the regular bottles of Champagne, but the larger bottles might be an issue. All the more reason to drink them quickly! Also a splurge was the Liebherr 24-inch wide refrigerator, but it makes sense in my pretty small kitchen. The narrow refrigerator allowed me to get a 21-inch wide full height pantry -- and, yes, it's made out of an upper cabinet with 3 or 4 rollout shelves and a lower cabinet with a narrow drawer and two deep drawers. I do plan to be here for the long run and since this isn't really a family-size apartment, I'm not too concerned about resale value. I just wanted what suits me! Good luck!
