Yes, I have a KD and she already did my design based on all Bosch 800 appliances. Cabinet maker TBD in the next day or two and then building will begin. So I don't have much time less to make any more changes! :)

If you decide to go the induction route, Bosch is a great choice (it's the only one I have, so I'm not dissing any others). Mine is a 2-1/2 year old 500 series, but the 500 series now doesn't have direct-select power (mine does) so if I were buying now, I'd choose the 800 series. I love it. Main things to look for in an induction cooktop imo - direct-select power, individual hob timers (I use them all the time, for things like rice and oatmeal), hob layout. Mine has stainless trim top and bottom, but that's just for looks. It's also not particularly sensitive to pan size, which is convenient (I can put a 3-qt pot with an 8" diameter bottom on the smallest hob, which itself measures only about 5 inches, and it works fine). Cleaning is a breeze - usually a little spritz of Windex all-purpose and wipe it down with a paper towel or microfiber cloth.

Oh, good. You're not locked in with cabinets yet. Not good to change appliances once the cabinets are made.

sjhockeyfan - may I ask, what is direct select power?

i don't have any of those brands, but i do have induction, Miele 36", and we love it. we have had gas, coil electric & smooth top electric and i would never go back to any of them.!!! the one thing i hear consistantly on GW is with the Bosch DW, you should bring your dishes to make sure they fit. i read that could be a problem....good luck!!

I have the same Bosch as sjhockeyfan and love it for all the same reasons. I am still learning what "4" and "6" will do, exactly (for example), but I love that 4 today is the same as 4 yesterday, so when I start using it every day (don't live there yet) it will be even more wonderful. And I haven't even figured out the timers yet, need to get that manual out one of these days. Love cleaning it up, though. I have gas at home now and there's a lot of cussing whenever something goes down between those grates...

Be careful of that Bosch 800 series refrigerator's availability. It is in very limited supply and will be discontinued when the inventory runs out!

Its a good unit, but if you are a few months out, I would try and lock one up ASAP!

Thank you Joe. I actually ordered and paid for it back in June when I thought the remodel was starting in September and they delayed shipment for me. I would hope that even though I don't need it until January that it will still be in stock for me! Good question to ask the vendor!

Joe-does Bosch plan on replacing the 800 series counter depth with an upgraded model?

They are looking for a supplier but have not announced any new model yet. For the immediate future they will not have a counter depth unit. My guess is they will do like Viking or Dacor and either start using the Electrolux built piece or the Blomberg/Beko built unit that is shipping in a few months time.

Why is everyone dumping Whirlpool as a fridge supplier? Viking, Dacor, and now Bosch.

You are backwards. Whirlpool is not renewing OEM supply contracts. All of those were cancelled by Whirlpool. Why? I have no good answer, but all of those were by whirlpool, not the other way around!

I stand corrected. I don't know what I was thinking, unless there was a big drop in quality it would be quite the coincidence for them all to drop a manufacturer at the same time.

Are there any power issues in the location you are building this house? If so, you might want to think gas over induction. (and I'm an induction lover.) Tho there is that exposed flame thing and little children to think about.
