Tile most of the bathroom or tile the entire bathroom?
Comments (17)Sumod- The medicine cabinets are simple wood frames with a cabinet-grade plywood back that just sit in the stud cavity. Because of the dimensions, the front of the frame projects about 1"+ beyond the finished wall. The medicine cabinet doors are also plywood with veneered edges and they are attached to the frame with standard cabinet hinges (Euro hinges). The mirrors are just 1/4" plate glass ordered to size from a glass shop and held in place with mirror mastic and a metal strip at the bottom that you don't really see. The guy who did the cabinets just made the medicine cabinets as part of the job. I don't know about the door brand...we live in a large metro area that has lots of door shops and the doors are just solid core maple doors with the center cut out and a maple panel held in with molding. They're not stained; they simply have a couple coats of clear spray lacquer....See MoreIs polished marble slippery for the shower and bathroom floor?
Comments (9)Death trap. I am renting while remodeling and the bathroom AND shower floor (double death trap) has large marble tiles. They are like ice when wet and the only safe way to shower is to make sure every surface my feet might touch is covered by a mat or towels....See MoreLarge gray polished ceramic tile in the Master bathroom
Comments (12)The placement of the toilet so close to the soaking tub is unappealing, you should find something for the space that offers separation between the two. I would be afraid of the safety of mixing a polished floor surface with water, especially as we age - it scares me just looking at it! It would be nice to add in elements to bring warmth to the space, such as plants and wood or woven items. It isn’t my cup of tea at all, but that’s why we decorate and remodel according to our own tastes and style....See Morepolished marble mosaic for bathroom floor??
Comments (9)As I stated, I have polished marble basketweave mosaic in my master bathroom. The shower floor is the problem--it becomes etched and is difficult to keep clean unless you use some very strong liquids. I have a professional tile cleaner come once a year to clean it as well as the caulking and grout on both the walls (porcelain tile) and floor. Unfortunately we have very hard water which discolors grout, stone and any sort of tile. However, the floor outside the shower is just fine. It was sealed on installation about 15 years ago, and I never have done it again. I just clean it with water and a marble cleaner. No undue maintenance required. If you're using it in a room that gets a lot of use, then you might want to reconsider. If it's your master bath, and you and your partner are careful, it shouldn't be a problem....See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
