honed vs polished marble floors in bathroom?
Comments (6)Another reason to get honed instead of polished marble is that when certain bathroom items (mouthwash, toothpaste, hairspray, creams--and for little boys, urine mis-aims) land on marble, they will etch the marble. With a polished finish, the etching will be obvious. With honed, you will hardly be able to see it if at all. I have marble floor tiles in my bathroom. They're not slippery cause they are smaller tiles than the 12x12 you are considering. As you mentioned, the frequency of the grout for the smaller tiles creates a non-slippery surface. I really like my marble floor. Also, the veins and coloration in the marble hide dirt or hair. In my other bathroom, I have white tile floors. The worst. Basically if you just walk in there, and one single hair falls, or you make one drip, it shows up glaringly on the white tile....See MoreNeed suggestions for non-slippery polished marble-like floor tile
Comments (11)Anna, I don't really think ANY of them are that bad, including real stone. I had a marble called pink argenta on my master bath floor when I had my house in Connecticut, and I wouldn't want to try running on it, but to walk across it, I never had any problems, nor did anyone else who used that bathroom. I don't think the Laufen is any more or less slippery than any other rectified polished porcelain. I just think that like myself, they don't see it as much of a problem as other companies might. Crossville's language might also be a legal disclaimer, much like McDonalds warning on the side of their coffee cups that contents are hot-- because some moron with no living brain cells won a law suit claiming they didn't realise......See MoreHoned marble mosaic--bathroom & shower floors--maintenance nightmare?
Comments (2)It's a personal choice. You will have to seal them. Personally I would never put marble in the shower, but several people do. Search marble showers on here & read what people say. There have been tons of discussions about it....See MoreHow to clean polished marble bathroom floors
Comments (20)I need some help too please 🙏🏻 I was given bad advice from a professional tile restorer that I should use vinegar and warm water to clean my bathroom floors/ grout. I have a new construction home and the tiler did not cover the floors after he finished so every contractor walked on the bathroom floors dragging mud and paint… needless to say the grout was no longer bright white. I have been trying to get professionally cleaned but no one wants to touch marble. So I used the vinegar and a plastic scrub brush and of course the polished marble is now matte. I ended up doing the entire floor because the matte area I did first was in the middle of the floor and it was very obvious. I don’t mind the look of the less shiny floor but I’m worried it’s now going to stain very easily. I bought a steamer to try to do the grout but then I read no steamer on marble either! What do I do? Do I reseal the marble? Also all of the staining did not come out of the grout. Is it possible to re-grout the floors to kind of start over? Any advice is much much appreciated....See MoreRita / Bring Back Sophie 4 Real
