Part one catch up photo's!
Comments (10)Debra, the color on Aztec Beauty is fantastic. I must say that all it has going for it though. I hate the form and the plainess of it. I knew you would like Applique since you have it.. Jean, that's FFO on Absolute Treasure. I bought more than one daylily that they told me was this one. They were wrong but I finally got it from a friend a couple of years ago. I've not been sorry. Brittie, she's isn't a pure pink but shes close enough to suit me since I love the pinks so much!! Becky, I am thrilled for you. Once you begin planting and see blooms in your garden, you will really be in love with them. Christine, AB does have a lovely color, so I agree with that part. I really don't like it much for the same reasons that you like it.. Concrete Empire was a long time not blooming but I think it was worth the wait.. Thank you Kay and Thank you all for your input!! Comments (15)Hi everyone, It has been downpouring all day so I'm glad I got pictures when I did! The clematis look like soggy kleenex and some of the vines let go in the wind. It's supposed to keep on pouring so all those roses opening are mush and the gorgeous peony blooms are laying in the mud. Fortunately I did snap some pictures yesterday and I'm going to do another post real soon. I appreciate all your warm and enthusiastic responses! Kay...it could very well be H.G. Young but I never knew the name. It was a mislabel from one of the big box stores and was supposed to be Jackmanii which it obviously isn't. Rita...I have pretty much exhausted my land of rocks after making so many rock beds. Now I'm getting them from Dad's land and carrying them in the car, much to DH's displeasure. I just love rocks so much and I like a natural look in my garden. It's not professional or perfect since the rocks I dig up are round and not great for stacking and I don't use cement, I just stack them. As you can see, they come in all colors, shapes & sizes. Jean...that is a heartbreaking story about your clematis. Goodness, your mother sounds a little like mom (before she got the Alzheimers). Why is it mothers think they own OUR things too? Debra...they can be finicky here too. Sometimes one part of the vines will just turn limp and die, for no apparent reason. They seem to like my climate and I've always had good luck with them other than the wilting once in awhile. Val...thank you. Seems like my 'unknown' blue one is the winner today. Julia...I have never had these clematis bloom this early. What a weird year it has been so far. I even have roses blooming already that don't start until the 3rd week in June most years. I have quite a lot more clematis that are quite a way from blooming so I look foward to them hopefully bloom when they normally do. Rena...so glad you enjoyed them. I have some other pretties to share and will post them tomorrow. Christine...LOL. What I love about this forum is that we are all from different zones across the country so we all get to enjoy more than just one spring and summer. Nat....that bloom is what I refer to as a 'cheat' bloom. It was bought potted up through the mail so it came from a greenhouse. I also have some daylilies starting to bloom or sending up scapes that came from Maryott last fall so they're confused, thinking they're still in California. Comments (16)Thanks flowergirl. I'm not sure they are all keepers however. Rita, is it to cold there for the tree frogs? I don't know I just take a picture of this little fellow every day. When the bloom is spent, he goes to a fresh one close by. I also have an abundance of Praying Mantis this year! Val, the 5th one is an edge no eye. The last one is a surprise..I don't know the parents on that one. I think it a Lady Bear Bryant X Lake Norman Spider cross since it's with that bunch.. Debra, I meant to take a photo of the lavender spatulate today but got busy and forgot. The outer edge of the eye looked silvery today. I alway am happy with the G'ma's kids. The SOT is my favorite though as it has such a pretty edge in the afternoon that is rather white. I keep trying for a nice blue eyed one, hense the pal gar beau. dean, the eye on TR x TBE is almost blue. I'm working on it. The curly spider, is one of my VERY favorites. This is it's 2nd year.. Lisa, the Shores Of Time seedling is one of my favorites too and the last one has such a nice eye. I am going to try to find the parents of that one... Jean, #2 has such a nice pleated type edge, it's hard not to like it. I also like the edge no eyed one and Shores Of Time Kid is a keeper, I think.. Mantis, this is a first year for that one so I have no evaluation on it. For a first year though, to date it has bloomed several blooms. It has a good sized bloom but is a little on the short side. I'll wait and see. Unless I just hate them, I usually bloom them at least 2 years.. Linda,thanks..they aren't ALL that special but some are.. Marg, The SOT is my favorite of that form. The #3 one is one I am considering.. fancy that Christine. I noticed the Diamond Dusting on the cv today also. A lot of mine are dusted this year! I did post a photo of that uf before but believe it or not, this is a differnt picture. Since this is a first year, I am looking for changes in it. The outer edge of the eye actually looked silvery today!.. Flowergirl, it's most definitly a seedling. it's growing in my seedling tub or at least one of them It has a sib to but it wasn't worth a photo.. ngraham, also my favorites of that form. The Tree Frog was in Lucky Stiff yesterday. As the blooms die, it goes to another fresh one and these to cv's are together. Also about the same height. Tall!! Thank you all for your comments. Now I must look at a photo of Moonlight Orchid! LOL!!!!! Ellie...See MoreCatching up with some photos part 2
Comments (7)All of the following photos were taken Thursday afternoon. It was hot and humid, but cloudy all day. Chilled Orange Sorbet: Love this bloom. Top branched, Malcolm David Brooker Sr: I lovve this toothy one. RATTLESNAKE RAKE Wren's Song: An outstanding pink. It is taller than registered. To the side and to the right is Jamaican Midnight. Closeup to follow. Jamaican Midnight Tuscawilla Blackout I put JM and TB together for comparison sake. Very similar blooms in the pm, but in the a.m. JM looks totally black, while TB looks dark purple with some rose and black when the sun hits it. David...See Moremaple_grove_gw
