Vote: 15 inch uppers or 18 inch uppers with 30 inch deep counters
Comments (2)I am short (5'1"). I tried playing with how it would feel to have 30" deep counters. Using my range I am reminded of why it wouldn't be a good idea for me. The range is 28.5 inches deep. I have to really stretch to clean the back guard and it isn't as far away as the wall. I think I would go with the deeper uppers if you don't mind things getting lost in the rear of them. Reaching over 30" counters to a 12" upper would be fruitless for me. As it is now I can only reach the front row of glasses on the second shelf of my 12" over 24" cabs now. I do wonder what prevents you from putting in a full height pantry on the 18 foot wall? That's a nice long space....See MoreDownsides to a 15 inch upper cabinet? Any regrets?
Comments (2)I have them over 30 inch lowers and love them. They hold do much more. Check out the Tupperware tubular mates for storage - they fit perfectly - and make the storage even more efficient. I even have a 15" saute pan in one but a caveat with that is that I have overlay doors to the inside is a true 15" deep...See MoreI can't find 15 inch upper cabinets.
Comments (6)Generally, anything bigger than the "standard" depth cabinet is a custom size. If you are working through a company that carries well known cabinet lines , it will cost a lot to have deeper cabinets made, since they have to be custom made. Most large cabinet manufacturers buy the boxes already made. You can probably do better by finding a local cabinet maker, especially if they make their own boxes. Then you can get them any depth you want....See MoreWhat is your narrowest drawer and what do you put in it?
Comments (20)I think all those tiny drawers are simply a weird design of larger drawer dividers. My smallest drawer is in 12" drawer cabinets. Even those are worthless. I store 1) pot holders 2) large utensils such as ladles, BBQ junk. In the bottom I store plastic bags. In it's mirror image, I store shelf support things, then paper bags, then nothing (so far). I'd put in a full height thing for trays, or a step stool or something. That seems like a silly waste of space, though. Just me. I am tired of small drawers and skinny cabinets. I think 12" cabinets were invented just to fill in space, not for actual usage. Just my op-onion. C....See MoreAudrey C
