Found TIDE With Oriental Lettering At The Dollar Store-Any Good?
Comments (4)Hi, I donÂt see anything that looks like a date but, then, I canÂt read anything on the packaging. I have been to Dollar Stores where a great deal of the merchandise looked old and shopworn, but the items in this store all look quite new, including the Tide packaging. I feel that it most likely is not old. I did forget to mention that in addition to the standard Tide white, orange, and yellow circles on the logo, there is also an additional partial mint green circle at the outer edge. From the end of that circle, a large mint green droplet is suspended. I have a feeling this represents some kind of additive, but I have no idea what. I wonder whatÂs in this product? The illustrations indicate that it can be used for both white and colors. I asked the clerk in the Dollar Store about it and all she could tell me was that the people who buy it keep on coming back for more. She didnÂt seem to know much else. Thanks for any help! Comments (27)I haven't shopped in dollar stores for a few years now. Simply because it is imported items of a low value, which reflects in the price. Some items are counterfit to look like brand names (even if they aren't brands WE recognize). Others may have quality issues - such as toothpaste that contains antifreeze. Some of the decorative items are cast offs from factories (where workers are paid pennies per day and there are no standards for safety for worker nor consumer) or the makers are paid almost nothing as piece work. Again, there is no way to know what materials are being used and how the items are being made. I don't want to support the exploitation of a cheap workforce that is being abused, simply to get a little vase with a crooked hand painted design for a dollar. Local companies cannot compete with these cheap products so they undermine our economy. They also underscore the idea that it is cheapness and quantity and not QUALITY workmanship that should be a priority. We are a disposable society. Go ahead and throw it out, you can get a new one at the dollar store. With rising prices and sinking wages I know that there are many who feel they cannot afford NOT to shop in the dollar store, and I commiserate. But for me, it was a choice I made for myself, my family, and my community. And I am sticking with it ROFL....See MoreThe best dollar you ever spent at the dollar store
Comments (42)I have a friend in physical rehab (since December) and when I was visiting before Easter I decided I wanted to get each patient on her hallway a little something. Food was not acceptable so I found little flowerpots with silk flowers at the dollar store. They were so pretty- - sure didn't look like dollar store items. I packaged each one (25) in a little gift bag also from the dollar store and made little tags decorated with flower and butterfly stickers and wrote a few words on each. They were a hit and when I go to visit now I see many of the patients have put them on their window sills. It sure was fun....See MoreWhat do you usually buy at the dollar store?
Comments (59)Gift bags, tissue paper, birthday cards, candy, orange or apple juice from the cooler I need a small amount for a recipe and Betty Crocker parchment sheets that come 10 in a bag, cat litter box when I need a new one. I know what I won't be buying there again, metal kitchen items. I bought a slotted spoon and just noticed last night it wasn't steel like I thought it was, it was coated metal and after I used it last night saw it was coated to look like steel and it was flaking off....See Moresparky823
