Pricing on 1/2' low iron shower glass?
Comments (5)Total price over $7500, straight corner, door plus two shorter panels (door is on 5' side and attached to wall). Classic L-shaped installation. Invoice doesn't even specify door size, so I suspect it is standard 28", but I will ask. Hate quotes without decent breakdowns, so I'm unhappy already. I don't think DH is up for DIYing this. It's part of a whole house remodel and addition, so we're overwhelmed with projects and need to get this bath done. How much do clips cost? Also, we have hard water and calacatta tile in the shower, so both low iron and good coating are a must, even though I know they are adding some to the cost. Still, 1/2" Starphire for fish tanks sells for $15 a square!...See MoreDoes 'Low-E' have to = tinted glass?
Comments (138)@WoW Washington That makes sense. I went to your website and couldn't find a list of brands you sell. I'm looking for aluminum framed sliding windows with narrow sightlines. I'm aware of the uber luxury windows by Vitrocsa, Styline, and Skyframe, and their frames are about 1" thick. Gorgeous. But of course, the prices are as much as my entire home cost. I'm wondering if there's a narrow frame out there, maybe 2" thick, from a more economical standpoint. Milgard and Andersen are thicker than that. What brands do you sell on your site that have the narrowest frames, could you share? It's funny because I live in a old, modest beach house in Florida that JUST SO HAPPENS to have come with super narrow 1.5" frames. Even on my 6' x 5' sliding window. The frame is just 1.5" thick. Love it! But the company went out of buisness....See Moreregular vs low iron vs starphire glass for shower doors
Comments (5)Starphire is a brand name for Low Iron (PPG now Vitro). The fact that a dealer is going to charge you one price for low iron and another for the same thing but the Starphire brand would make me quite skeptical. As far as whether Low Iron is a benefit, that is a personal opinion, but the tile will definitely pick up the green hue in regular glass over low iron....See MoreCast iron shower bases MUST use shower doors with a track
Comments (30)We are installing a 36 x 60 cast iron shower receptor and frameless bypass sliding doors. The glass company said they drill into cast iron all the time and it's not a problem. As a preventive measure, I will ask them to add silicone to the underside of the sill mounted center guide to seal out water and prevent rust. Thank you to everyone who commented on this thread - your input has been helpful and informative....See Morechisue
