Total price over $7500, straight corner, door plus two shorter panels (door is on 5' side and attached to wall). Classic L-shaped installation. Invoice doesn't even specify door size, so I suspect it is standard 28", but I will ask. Hate quotes without decent breakdowns, so I'm unhappy already. I don't think DH is up for DIYing this. It's part of a whole house remodel and addition, so we're overwhelmed with projects and need to get this bath done. How much do clips cost? Also, we have hard water and calacatta tile in the shower, so both low iron and good coating are a must, even though I know they are adding some to the cost. Still, 1/2" Starphire for fish tanks sells for $15 a square!

I just met with my contractor and the glass guy about these issues. I am going with the low iron glass and we are going to have the protectant fused into the glass during the manufacturing process instead of being applied to the surface where it will eventually wash/erode away and have to be recoated. My contractor has also suggested adding a system to my water heater that "softens" the water without the use of salt. Will this substantially add to the costs? Yes, it will. It's possible that I may have bought the Brooklyn Bridge.......

So here are my quotes from my glass place: Clear glass w.o coatings $1140; Starphire Glass w/o coating $1530 and Showerguard clear glass $1425. But they do not offer Showerguard glass in ultrawhite/starphire. Even if they did it would probably be more than I want to spend. What to do, what to do??? They do offer adding Clear Shield to the glass w/o coatings for $130. I know I could call another company, but the other 2 companies both came back around $1400 for just plain glass-- so I am guess this is the best pricing I can find. HELP! I have analysis paralysis, I almost ready to opt for a shower curtain!

Just to clarify ..... this Platinum Pluffle (20" x 40") microfiber that I ordered is so different than any microfiber I have used. I have window (glass) microfiber cloths, shower microfiber cloths, generic microfiber (10 to a pack at box stores), stainless steel microfiber and 20 year old hair drying microfiber cloths and I like all of them except they do stick to your hand and don't work that easily in the shower. The Pluffle is more like a very soft baby blanket with waffle type pockets of fluffy fibers. I fold it up so it is actually 8 layers of 10" x 10" fluff in the palm of my hand. I make large swipes and just turn it over or refold it when it seems to be wet. It glides effortlessly across the tile and glass and is unlike any of my other microfiber cloths. It was so worth the cost!
