55 years old and I'm playing with
Comments (17)I'm 54. I didn't have a Barbie as a child, had to play with the nieghbors- they had several..Her sister worked in a factory that had felt scraps every week, so I made many outfits from that..Bought my first one when I was 16, still have it along with about 275 or so more..I buy them at garage sales, do their hair, dress them and put them in storage cases...have some really interesting ones... My favorite is "Ho Bag Barbie" she has a purple streak in her hair, a gold tooth and tatoos. Dressed her in a street walker outfit, and sure got some smiles. Now I have to split them between my granddaughters who are 3 mo. and 2 yrs. My son did a homemade video with them a few yrs ago with Ken sitting on a bench. One comes up,sits down and puts her hand on his knee. Another comes to push her off and a brawl ensues. Another one drives the pink convertible over the pile of dolls and snatches Ken. Took 110 still pics moving them slightly each frame. It was a hoot! I love Barbies!!...See MoreI've got a sick daughter,...I'm going to try to help her
Comments (18)She is quite sick, and it is important that she get the rest, hydration and meals she needs. How fortunate she is to have a loving mother to help out. Jeff's girlfriend sounds like a fine person as well. Family helps family when the need arises. I don't think pneumonia is contagious, but strep is, so if you handle things she has handled be sure to wash your hands. Can she sleep in her own room separate from others? I bet she will feel much better in a few days. If not, call the dr. How old is the baby?...See MoreI'm helping my friend unclutter her home. She is a widow.
Comments (23)No, it did not sound as if your friend was one of those who was threatened to be killed by her hoarding. Not all are like that. I have seen people who just resort to shopping as a crutch when life happens. As a person who is devoted to an uncluttered lifestyle, I struggle with my daughters house. I have to almost tie my hands when I go there. Her life is so full with commuting, career and family that I cannot help but see, that if her home was less cluttered it would be so much easier to manage. They are not really hoarders. They are clutterers. Even just putting anything away is twice the chore it ought to be because so much has to be juggled. Most of that juggling is so totally unnecessary if they would only cull out the useless from the useful. Everything is a balancing and juggling act. Why? Meanwhile, it grieves me to see her so strung out and stressed so much of the time when I know how true it is that clearing the clutter and having a more organized environment makes the chores of life and family flow so much smoother. They really need some calm and order in their lives....See MoreI'm putting together a basket for a friend who had her last chemo....
Comments (30)I posted a response but it disappeared, so I will try to respond again as this is a subject near and dear to my heart. My gardening friend brought me a pot of lavender at the end of my journey through surgeries, chemo and radiation. DH planted it in our garden - it comes back every year and reminds me that I am perennial. Although I had wigs and scarves I had no eyebrows and never felt normal. I would have liked stencils to sketch in eyebrows with pencils. There was a support group for breast cancer suvivors that sponsored seminars to teach how to do make-up and stylish head covers, but I was too sick to attend. Decadent chocolates. See's Nuts and Chews. Bars of Swiss and Belgian that can be nibbled on with no end in sight...live like there's no tomorrow....See Morerococogurl
