I've got a sick daughter,...I'm going to try to help her

My oldest daughter and ggrandaughter are coming over tomorrow morning. (her husband is bringing her) She has been really sick for a couple of weeks now. First it was flu like symptoms then she felt just a little better over the weekend. Sunday night when she went home she said she felt like her fever was coming back and she sound awful.

She went to dr. today. She has pneumonia and strep throat. They gave her shots and lots of meds. But she has no one to help her with the baby. I ask her husband if he would bring her here (and baby) I'm hoping she'll stay a few days so I can help her and let her get some sleep.

Jeff's girlfriend is off on Fridays so she will help me chase after the little one. She's a busy one. We've got a couple extra couches and a cot..so the whole family can come if the want. grandson has his own car and a job so he might not.

You got to do what you can. and she needs some help.

How wonderful of you to step in and take over for her. It is not easy being a mom of little ones.

Our daughter was sick a month ago with a bad cold that her 3 year old brought home, so I drove up to her place just to let her nap and collapse while I took care of the 1 and 3 year olds who were improving. I am glad I live close enough to help.

I'm sure she'll appreciate the help and sounds like that little one will be fun!

Hey there, Jason. The regular posters on this forum must not have a lot of problems and they are too modest to show off their ponds. I didn't know there was a pool forum.I'm usually on the Aquatic plants and Ponds forum where on occasion we get a bit out of hand. Rowdy I think is the word someone used. So far this spring things have been quiet but I still have hopes. I certainly was interested in your post. I think I read about a similar case on either Dr. Johnson or one of the other sponsored Vet links when I was just starting to learn about fish and ponds. Dee, thank you for the kind words..I followed your advice and looked up your color diva, emailed, waiting for a response. The mirror was money, but not so much of mine. I bought it at an auction and boy was I excited! That's why paint is so important..once that mirror goes up, it will be difficult to get it down. Cam, how did you find that photo? It has all the right elements.bookcases, etc. Nice sleuthing, I love the photo, unfortunately, I don't think I have a wall that would work..no mill work to define it. KMCG your comment is a stroke of brilliance..bring the brown onto the couch to ground it to the floor, where are those pillows from? I am excited to press on, so many good ideas. Basik, I'd recommend getting a no-carb cat food to feed your cat. There are many formulations out there in all different price ranges. If you feed a cat strictly a "people food" diet, the cat will not get the nutrients it requires. Taurine is one of the most important ones. There are formulas for weight loss as well but if you feed a grain free food, you'll see a difference in her weight. Feed no more than the recommended amount and use set feeding times. I feed my cat a combination of Primal Pet raw and Blue Buffalo Wilderness dry. Stop feeding the treats! Those are nothing but junk! If you want to feed a treat, get dried chicken or turkey breast. Make your cat do something for the treat; use a feather toy and have her chase it. Teach her some tricks that have exercise built in (fetch is good) so she's working for it. I play tag, fetch and hide and seek with my cat. He runs around like a silly goof and really enjoys the one on one time. He knows when I should stop work and will pester me to play hide and seek. He really enjoys the activity!

Good morning all! Thanks for all the nice and all the funny things you said! CEFreeman, oh I didn't realize I'm supposed to hang curtains next to my gas stove...I'll get right on that! ;-) "How do I paint (gel stain, prime, etc.) my kitchen cabinets?" is probably the most asked question over on the manufactured homes forum as well. Jilllius, the cold war does provide good fodder for humor! When we cleaned out my parents' house, in the shed we found a ton of coffee cans filled with used razor blades (2007). When we asked my dad why, he said if the Russians attack us we'll need steel for the war effort. Lol! To all of you, thanks. I can't take 100% credit for my sunny attitude because I believe people are born with certain predispositions, genetically. I've always been a happy person. My brother, raised in the same environment, hasn't had a happy day in his life. But, I also believe in something Abraham Lincoln said. He said, "Most folks are about as happy as they want to be." I'm glad you're able to help. It will be disruptive for a while, but she really does need help or she'll end up in the hospital even sicker. ((Patti))

I remember when my kids were young, I wound up in the hospital for a week with a very bad strep infection. My neighbors were wonderful helping DH get the little girls hair brushed before going to school. I didn't have family nearby to help. Your daughter is lucky to have you. Load up on vitamin C and take good care of yourself as well as your daughter and granddaughter.

Good move, Patti. I remember what it was like to be a young mom with the flu--ugh! I used to say mothers should never get sick. Being in your care should help a lot.

I know how much your DD will appreciate that!! She isn't going to heal correctly if she doesn't get rest and good food! You're a good mama...but I knew that already! =)

She is quite sick, and it is important that she get the rest, hydration and meals she needs. How fortunate she is to have a loving mother to help out. Jeff's girlfriend sounds like a fine person as well. Family helps family when the need arises.

I don't think pneumonia is contagious, but strep is, so if you handle things she has handled be sure to wash your hands. Can she sleep in her own room separate from others?
I bet she will feel much better in a few days. If not, call the dr.

How old is the baby?

I've had that pneumonia 2x's myself. The first time it was bacterial and the second viral. First time had me in the hospital for 4 days, the second had me home for 2 weeks. I have found for upper respitory Mullens leaf tea is great. It breaks that stuff up real good. I always have it on hand this time of year.

get your lysol can our, lol. spray everything, including the door knobs...

thanks for the info on the tea, two acres...have never heard of it...but dd1's family is asthma country...wonder if it might help?

You're a great Mom to jump in and help. Your daughter and her family are lucky to have you. She will alwys remember when Mom jumped in to help when she was so sick.

Like others have said take care of yourself during this time.. I will be thinking of all of you...

wowsers Patti..I know what that gal is going thru..I had that dose 2x this fall already..and each dose lasted 3 wks.

get her Buckleys,if it is available in the states..its truly the only thing that works for it

Not sure about the asthma truthfully. I am a smoker and get that wet cough, when it comes on I drink my tea and it helps to break up that stuff.

I was gonna say pnemonia is going around dialysis about 6 people had it now this month so far.Hope she gets better.
