Well, it is 80 out right now and it has been over cast all day. I have not been out much at all today. Busy in the house. We may get some rain today and tomorrow. We could use some this time of year.

Sue in Central Indiana

Here in the Phoenix metro area we're looking at 109 today. Am ready for cooler weather.

HOT and humid! Even at the beach.

Southern B.C. and PNW and it's finally raining. This area needs rain so badly with the forest fire situation. I just hope that northern California is getting some of this storm. It was supposed to rain all day but it has already stopped which is not a good sign.

90° F, slighty breezy, middling humidity. Feels like being in a big ol' hair dryer.

It's cloudy, raining and humid. Not too hot though which is good! Just north of you Gadgets in Michigan, so you'll be seeing our rain soon!

Manitou Springs Colorado: cool in the AM, slight breeze, nip in the air. Got to 80 today. A few puffy white clouds.....very nice....

It was 99 here at 7 pm when I checked, partly cloudy today which kept it cooler. I'm glad that it was cooler, I had yard work to do today. Fort Worth, Texas.

we got about 15 minutes of sprinkles but still are expecting real rain??? wish I could send it to my pal in Idaho...she's up in the panhandle...and close to fires...

I'm south of blfenton on the Washington coast and we had a doozy of a storm today complete with heavy rain, wind, power outages. It's the first real rain we've had in weeks and weeks (we even missed out on what Seattle received a couple of weeks ago) and our trees needed it so badly....although I'm not sure we wanted this equivalent to a real Fall storm.

But. My yard is a disaster. I have leaves, branches, debris everywhere. Streets are a mess and the storm drains blocked.

Today was the annual reunion picnic we help to host for the very first group of foresters DH worked with right out of school. We are the 'babies', with several well into their 80s now, some of them having to travel more than a couple of hours to meet. There were a few unable to come because of weather but more were present than I had guessed. We had a covered park shelter with half walls on three sides so were blocked from wind when seated, a large fire in the built in wood stove. I took a buffet coffee pot (outlets in the shelter) and I think more hot coffee consumed than most years. But what troopers these elders are, I think I can confidently say we had a good time.

South central PA here. Yesterday was hot, hot, hot, at least for me. The sun was killer. A group of 7 of us went to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Irish and Scottish theme this weekend. First time I ever went. I enjoyed it ok. Would have really enjoyed it if it wasn't sooooo d@mn hot. Weather report said it was 85 and feels like 88.

If I ever go again, I'll go in Oct. when a cold front is moving thru! haha

Saturday was dry in our part of Georgia but today is a different story. It is rainy off and on so far this morning. Wonder what the afternoon will bring? It is in the mid 70's for a temperature this morning. I guess Erika is making her way north.

imacamper, sorry about your temps, but that's Phoenix, right? Very rough temps.

Hasn't been too cool here in CA either, but nothing like PHX. Been in the 100's the last couple of days, today cooling to 93. Tomorrow will be in the high 80's. With restricted water use, the plants and lawn are hurting.

morz8 - when I typed my original post the wind hadn't picked up yet but by noon they were warning people to stay indoors because of the high winds. It was the worst windstorm we've had in 10 years and as you know we can get some doozies in November.

socks - You didn't get any of this rain that we got? I was so hoping it would head far south.

Blfenton, we had some good-looking clouds yesterday but nothing came of them, as usual. :( At least it's cooled down--it's a pleasant 65 or so right now, at almost 8:30 am.

It's in the mid 80s here with a heat index in the mid 90s. Not too bad for the end of August. We had a lot of thunder and lightning last night/early morning but no rain. I'm in Southeast Missouri-the Bootheel.

Here's a laugh Charlee: When I read your last sentence, I read it as the Booth-eel. I was wondering what the heck that was till I realized what it really said, the Boot-heel.

I am happy to say today is wonderful. We live very close to where a large rangeland fire started about 3 weeks or so ago. Since then it has still been hot and dry, and so smoky we couldn't even see the mountains just a couple miles away. On day, couldn't see the across the road neighbors. A cool front came in last night, bringing in a little wind and humidity with it and blew the smoke out. It just drains down into the river canyon, but really the whole area this time, and was also bringing in smoke from other fires in the northwest. It has been a terrible time for many.

Cathy, I've felt so badly for those of you in the path of the smoke. We got it here on the coast a week ago, just an odd colored haze blocking out sun. We were working outside that day, stayed busy, couldn't smell the smoke as much as feel a little oppressed if that makes sense. We sleep with windows open. The next morning I woke up with a headache that I never get, and have to blame maybe the air. I'm glad yours is gone.

We made a mad dash into Costco after our picnic yesterday and they (checkers) were taking donations for fire households, said nothing going to overhead and all to people in the path of the fires and fighting fires. I gave.

My BIL and his wife have a house in Coeur d'Alene, they were miserable a few days and came to their lake house here. To breathe.

Shirley, maybe you hadn't heard it called that before. I'm in New Madrid but most don't know where that is either. Lol

We're in another heat wave/humidity blitz. Our normal high is 23C but we're hitting 30C this week and the humidity (and there's lots) are making it more like 38C. Ugly, ugly. It's supposed to last through the weekend, Labour Day.
