Comments (35)I know it wont be as bad, but DARN, I was just outside and everything is just starting to look good. Ann, you know things have developed slowly this year, and that was good because we didn't need a repeat of last year. So to loose it now would be doubly bad. It's not just the roses, although to lose the buds on my once blooming monster QE would be bad, but the hydrangeas and my poor Japanese maples that almost lost half their growth last year from frost damage. And my one crepe myrtle that got badly zapped last year and is now 3 feet shorter than the ones near it and is all budded out already. I did read in Horticulture Mag that last year was a perfect storm. Warmer than normal Winter and March seduced everything to grow earlier than normal. Then ZAP 3-4 days and nights of freezing temps. Good thing is it is going to be wet, so that should help. And I have bags of shredded leaves that I can put on somethings like my hydrangeas and at least protect the lower growth. And it's not going to be as cold during the day (supposedly) so maybe that will make a difference....See MoreHow's your weather???
Comments (18)We are in the low 60s during the day and 30s at night. Oddly had a slight snow last week, very slight. I live at the base of the Rockies, the ski areas are getting a lot of snow. Last fall the leaves didn't change, they were frozen before turning. But this fall it is beautiful. Falling leaves feels like friends dropping by. The last 2 years have been off from the norm. Little rain and snow. Winter brought enough snow to wet the roads for slick ice in mornings. I have to get going and finish a few outside projects before the mystery weather arrives....See MoreHow was your weekend? (1 pic)
Comments (17)Saturday we took my van into the shop, it had temperature issues. So we went in anticipating a new thermostat was needed... and it was. But there were other issues. Total damage, $1300! And that was with one problem covered under warranty. Sunday DH turned on the computer and the monitor "popped" and went out. Had to drag a big old clunker down from the attic for now. Then, because it's a three day weekend and these things come in threes, we woke up to no hot water this morning. (Whose idea of a joke is this?) On the upside, it poured Sunday (we needed the rain) and the roof did not leak. ;o) I guess I'm off to take a cold shower before we head out to pick up the van. And stop at Home Depot, I guess. We'll let them handle the water heater, it's gas and I don't want to mess with it. We knew it was about to expire, but sheesh, did it have to be all in one weekend!? I'm laughing, I really am, because life can be almost like a sitcom sometimes....See MoreWhat's your weather this weekend?
Comments (21)Cathy, I've felt so badly for those of you in the path of the smoke. We got it here on the coast a week ago, just an odd colored haze blocking out sun. We were working outside that day, stayed busy, couldn't smell the smoke as much as feel a little oppressed if that makes sense. We sleep with windows open. The next morning I woke up with a headache that I never get, and have to blame maybe the air. I'm glad yours is gone. We made a mad dash into Costco after our picnic yesterday and they (checkers) were taking donations for fire households, said nothing going to overhead and all to people in the path of the fires and fighting fires. I gave. My BIL and his wife have a house in Coeur d'Alene, they were miserable a few days and came to their lake house here. To breathe....See MoreMarilyn Sue McClintock
