Unfortunately it is for pick up only, first com first served only.

Trying to figure out how long it would take me to drive there as it is a great sale.

The availability list reads like a copy of all my wish lists put together, lol. I wish I lived closer to TN. For me the trip would take over 16 hours so.....nope, lol.

Then I don't feel so bad, it looks like 6 to 7 hours for me. I really wish I lived closer as I see quite a few that I would want for those prices! Maybe we could get some sort of shuttle started like the Pony Express, where someone loser could pick them up, drive an hour of so, pass them off to someone else, etc. Ha, ha, ha! Oh, and I am tempted to drive there as I drive 5 hours to attend the Raleigh Plant Swap. I see about 15 or so that I wouldn't mind having.

Kate, as long as the temps are moderate enough that the soaking water does not freeze, you should be fine. You can set out the can of water in advance to see whether the covered porch will work. At this point in the season, my dog water is still thoroughly iced over each morning, so I do use the garage for the soak - and yes you do want to submerge the entire plant, canes and all. By late next month, I seriously doubt it will be a problem in Quincy (you might recall, I used to live there). And if there is an unusual cold snap, the unsoaked bareroot plants can go in the refrigerator, as mad gallica suggests above, til the weather moderates. I have never had a problem with the roses once planted in pots in my also very cold breezeway. The wind roars through there and the snow drifts in. But the plants have always done fine. Kept like this, they don't seem to break dormancy til the weather warms.

Jeri, I'm surprised at how pink Monsieur Tillier is. I had thought it had more of an apricot coloring. At any rate, I'll be able to find out next month when I visit the cemetery, thanks to your description of its beauty. For what it's worth, I've never potted on a band and have not lost a single one by planting it straight into the ground, although there are one or two laggards (the prime example being the infamous Ley's Perpetual). I tend to think it depends on the soil and climate one is gardening in, and I consider myself fortunate that it seems to work for me. By the way, Jeri, thanks for enabling me into IHT. It's blooming for the second time after being in the ground for some months and I love the color. I couldn't have found a better plant for my purple garden area. I have been fertilizing bands that have put on new growth with alfalfa meal. Is this an okay thing to do? I haven't seen any adverse effects but would appreciate others' opinions. Regards, Ingrid

I order almost every yr from them. I am running out of room, but I lost quite a few roses this past season, so am looking to either replace or get something else. Their prices are the most reasonable, and shipping is also very reasonable. I plan to order CORETTA SCOTT KING, SUGAR MOON, and FIRED UP. Still debating if I want to replace two that died on me... BARBRA STREISAND and FIREFIGHTER (HACIENDA). Regan's is a great source also, but even for me being here in the same state, the shipping is a LOT more. I do want to order JULIO IGLESIAS, as they are the only source for a grafted one. But to make that shipping cost worthwhile, I would prefer to add a couple more roses. Just not sure what I really want yet. (Truth be told, I shouldn't be ordering anything at all!!) LOL

Flower Garden Nursery, Sandwich Road, Falmouth has 3 inch lavender @ $1, some great "cutting garden" temperennials $ $2, and Night Phlox, free. I took 3 of the night phlox, but bought lots of the cutting garden plants. I'm hoping they will bloom right through until frost. Pondscapes, Rt 28A, Cataumet, 30% off all plant material. They've got some fabulous shrubs and trees (please keep your hands off the liquidamar rotundiloba, I'm planning to get over there later this week to pick them up!). Hydrangea, 2 for the price of 1 - I hope that's correct. Cataumet Garden Center, also on Rt 28A, buy 4 get 1 free on perennials and ground covers - I didn't check the shrubs there.

Too far for me....... found a 6' tall Forth of July for $5 at Lowe's 2 days ago. :-)

I was just at one of my local Lowe's and they had one rose that looked like some kind of mini. I mean they had one rose. that was it. Most of the local Lowe's and Home Depots have just had lots of knockouts with very few other roses, if any. Fourth of July is on my wish list.

It was a huge clearence rose with BS...... :-) I might let it climbing on a tree by the street. I hope someone here can make it to the sale, a great deal! It's really nice of you to let everyone know. :-)
