You might want to use swivel/glider club chairs in an attempt to not have any other legs showing.

There's nothing in your room that it correlates with. I think you'd have to change too many things to make it work.

Omigosh, I think it would look terrific! It goes well with your home and your room and I like that it's different than your sofa, which is such a neutral style that many different things would work with it. If too many legs are a concern, I'd change out an end table and use the chair.

Not loving the curvy chair/ottoman with your sofa or alone. if you are looking for a comfy chair to use daily or freq, why bother with one like Pic 1? If you say you are not going to use the ottoman, then you're paying for something you don't want/need. Theres nice club chairs on CL all the time that would be more user friendly. It wont be a long wait, either. I don't see you planning for a coffee table. Think it would be nice if you had one.

i think it would look fine too... the sofa is so plain that it wouldn't clash. it doesn't 'match' it at all, but I think that's ok... I would probably add a couple of throw pillows to your sofa so it doesn't look so stark with it tho...

I look at the urn shaped lamp, the round coffee and end table, the curved legs on the other end table and plant stand and think the thing that does not match already is the sofa the sofa. Not that it is a bad thing. Guessing the bottom roll on the ottoman relieves pressure on your heal and might actually be very comfortable.

If the goal is matching, I would probably skip. But if the goal is a statement piece that stands out on the corner and it is comfortable I would consider it

what kind of chair are you looking for? One in which to relax? Showpiece? The one with the fancy ottoman strikes me as a feature piece, not as a "relax and binge watch TV" piece.

Is this a casual family room or where you welcome company? If for company, I like this chair better, comfy enough for company to stay 1-2 hrs, not an entire day. The fabric makes it a little granny-ish, but with a modern cheerful fabric it could be a nice complement to your neutral sofa. One needs to think hard about the purpose of the room and the purpose of furniture before anything else. Ugly fabric can always be changed, but furniture that doesn't work, is just an elephant in a room.

viola's chair on link is nice too. I've seen similar in Houston CL. Maybe your CL is not as active as Houiston's and something to consider.

Thanks for all the opinions! I'd like an eclectic look but still ties together.....not thrown together. This is hard! Voila, regarding club chairs, yes, I've considered that. My first goal is comfort, then style. A lot of the club chairs I've tried out aren't all the comfortable (arms too high or too boxed in) but I'll keep looking. I would actually love to have a couple of swivel gliders though they can be pricey. The sofa is nicer than it looks in the photo, but yes, it needs the right pillows. It has narrow cushions which means the pillows have to be moved. Hmm....

I think the sofa is perfect, go with everything kinda sofa. Here is a chair I fouind that looks like the leather one that caught your eye. Another thing to consider is that the piece might have the perfect lines, but b/c foam is old or cheap or both, can be uncomfortable. So you are wise to test it.

Vossner, I have one living area and really prefer a more causal, comfy look. I'm in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, so lots of CL opportunities. The reason I was considering a leather chair was to break up the upholstery look-especially if I get two more upholstered chairs. If I switch out the leather for fabric, I wouldn't consider this chair because $300 would be more than I would want to pay on top of the hundreds it would cost to reupholster it. I thought leather was pretty classic. Are you saying it's rather dated?

By the way, I passed on this Bernhardt top-grain leather chair that had been reduced from $1300 to $750 at Dillards. It's compact and comfortable. I go back and forth on whether or not I should've bought it.

Oh no, its not the leather, and you are right, leather would be a nice different texture. I think it's just the concept of paying for an ottoman you won't use. If you are looking on CL, means there are budget constraints, so why pay for something you won't use? But if you already sat on it and liked it, it wouldn't be bad. I just think there are better (cheaper) alternatives, esp. in Dallas. Also, I wasn't suggesting you change fabric on your chair, I was suggesting change on the pic I posted, which is dated. I would consider leather as timeless unless damaged, which is not your case. Are you on a time deadline? that would also need to be considered.

There are no time constraints, so I can wait for the right chair. I was thinking the chair was worth $300 without the ottoman. since it's top-grain leather, heavy and 8-way hand-tied. The seller says it's in excellent condition--not used much--but, at 10 years old, maybe it's not such a great deal. So far, I haven't found a unique leather chair on CL like this one, but I've sure seen a lot of the over-stuffed variety!

I like the chair! Throws and pillows (for sofa) were made for these situations :)

I hope the chair is great and that you love it and buy it - it's a fabulous deal, 10 years old or not if it looks like new, and 'I've no doubt you can make it work. But if you don't like, sounds like there may be more opportunities in your area if you keep an eye out. The 'rolled' ottoman looks ergonomic and I'll bet would be very comfortable. You are lucky, in may area CL has a lot of crap or really overpriced stuff. : (

@ gramarows. nobody inferred CL means too poor to do otherwise. CL means savvy shopper. I'm sure OP understood that. Even Donald Trump has budget constraints, just not as many as I do. I can do inflated retail but choose CL as my first go to, with happy results. I have been known to follow bargains to ramshackle locations and outcomes could have been bad--thank God they weren't. But I just pray that CL killers stay out of Houston. That is my only (big) misgiving with respect to CL.

Pls tells us if you got chair. Ultimately, you know best what will make you happy and our comments are just that. About 1/2 the time comments are useful and the other 1/2, well, not so much.

I thought your room looked familiar so I googled and found an old thread. I think that leather chair will have the same result as the two large chairs you brought into the room--the scale is wrong and it will dominate. You have a very light color palette with simple, traditional furnishings. It's open and airy, while that chair has a masculine dark library feel to it. I think you'd need richer colors and patterns in your room to pull it off, such as a deeper paint, a patterned wool rug, heavier drapes, sturdier tables. That leather chair looks great with the heavy stone fireplace while your furnishings work well with your traditional fireplace. It wouldn't be worth all those changes to me, but you might want to consider some tweaking of a few things to give your room that comfy feeling you want.

I didn't buy the chair. It wasn't in good condition.... so back to the drawing board!

Mayflowers, I was wondering if anyone would recognize my LR. What a memory! LOL, that was a few months ago. Those chairs are gone (sold for $1,000 on CL), as is the nice Flexsteel love seat that was botched by an upholsterer. Lost $$$ on that furniture but was thrilled to be able to start over again. And yes, I was so afraid of making the same mistake again with a chair out o proportion to the room. Whew!
