Meyer Lemon Tree Help

I bought this tree about 4 months ago from lemonciturstree.com and it seemed to be doing well. However the leaves started to fall off and the small lemon bulbs would turn yellow and fall off as well. I bought some citrus fertilizer (Jobes Organic Fruit & Citrus Fertilizer) and added it to the soil and I have not noticed much of a change. My tree is practically naked now and this is what the leaves look like.

Can someone help me out and maybe suggest what I need to do to bring this tree back to a healthy life.

Do you keep the tree outside and keep it watered regularly?

A picture of your whole tree would help the experts. I am no expert but the look of your leaf suggest too much water and nutrient defiencies. When did you put the fertilizer in your soil and what kind of soil do you have ? What kind of lighting does it get ?

Rorion, you're probably better off starting a brand new message, instead of tacking onto an older message thread. Also, please include where you live and zone. tlbean2004: there is pearlite in it. Not like I know what that means... uhh, I do believe the leaves get a little firmer and heavier after I water the plant, but that can just be my imagination. OK, so I will not over water. I would like to now know, is once a week too much? If I stick my finger in and I feel any moisture should I still water? I feel like this is so complicated. Yes, it is in full sun. Lots of good sun, on a sunny day of course. Should I re pot it in a smaller pot? How will that benefit me? If you need more pictures or anything let me know

Congratulations on your first citrus tree! I bought a Meyer Lemon myself in July/August and your fruit still have a ways to go. Lemons can take anywhere from 6-10 months to ripen, so don't let the size make you prematurely expectant. They also tend to flower multiple times throughout the year (as opposed to one main flowering like some other citrus) so it's quite normal to have fruit on the tree while its flowering again. As long as its being well fed with fertilizer the first set of lemons should still ripen fine, and citrus will usually drop what new fruits the trees are enable to support anyway. Mine had one the size of a pea on it when I bought it and that is now about the size of a normal lemon but it has also flowered a couple weeks ago and set more fruit, and is flowering again now lol. I really like this variety.

Thanks, Tom! I'll get my pruning shears out and snip off the dead bits, and look for a better draining soil. This tree was a gift, and the instructions that came with it were severly lacking in proper care info! (I think it was purchased from maybe QVC and shipped to me). I have it in a south facing window, and make sure to leave the blinds open all day, so I'm not sure if more light is possible. As for the gnats, I thought it was too dry (I water once a week, if that), but I'll try to back off on watering a little more.

Thank you for your replies. Sorry for the delay.

The tree is kept inside. it sits in front of a window that gets light most of the day. however I noticed the roof hangs out bit and might be blocking the brightness of the sun. I fertilized it about 3 weeks ago, and the soil mix is a mulch blend with added perlite. I have included a picture of the new growth that sprouted shortly after I repotted it. Since then however the rest of the leaves have died off. I have included a picture of the whole tree as well.
