Why is my new tree dying?

Tree was put in 3 months ago and within the last three weeks this is what is happening to both trees.

kinda looks like oak wilt. Are they both oaks? Close to each other? If it is, do NOT replant oaks!

Probably some type of canker, cut it out and hope for the best. Has the tree been stressed? Stress invites the canker. If the tree is planted in a place that gets poor drainage or if it has not been watered when there is no rain, then the tree is stressed. Some climates stress cherry trees. I have had the same thing happening this year, I just keep cutting it out and we will see what happens. I consider it a goner, but will see its death through.

They're dead anyways unless more than 2/3 of the tree has needles that remain in tact if you were to brush your hand over them. You can post to www photobucket .com which is a free hosting site. Need help figuring out why my bottle brush tree is dying.

OK, I'm game to start... Your soil test results show that there has been way too much unnecessary fertilising going on in your gardens. You say "Mom used to spend a lot of money on miracle grow garden soil and some kind of rose fertilizer. She would just give that to (every) thing growing in the yard." And " I figured the bottle brush was needing some too, so i poured about 2 or 3 pounds of epsom salt around the tree and waited." There's really no reason for you to throw around fertilisers willy-nilly, without knowing the reason for it. For your bottle-brush (Callistemon) specifically, they hate pretty much ANY fertiliser, but especially phosphorous, which will kill them dead. And your soil test indicates very high levels of phosphorous. Personally, I'd cut that plant down to about 6" high and see if it re-sprouts. They survive this treatment very well and grow back big and fast. (Unless it's already past the point of saving.) In the meantime, I'd stop using any bought chemical fertilisers and continue with what you're doing now, just adding leaf mulch, compost and maybe a light dusting of blood/bone meal. Then, in a year or so, get another soil test done for comparison with this one.

Both are I believe Pin Oaks. Watering on a regular schedule depending on our rain. Tonight found pictures that lead me to think Bacterial Leaf Scorch

Where are you web user? Do I see alot of brown in the neighbir's yard? Tell me more of the history and while u are at it, snap a pic of where the trunk meets the soil.

Those are big trees that must have cost a bit.

Plots on each side are in the completion stage, no landscaping yet. Trees were put in by the builder's landscaping company at the end of April. And yes they were a substantial amount of the landscape budget.

looks like the heat of summer set in.. and the root mass cant keep up with water loss ...

dig a 3 to 6 inch hole.. at the edge of the ball planted.. and FIND OUT... if the root ball is too wet.. or two dry ...

also look for the root flare while you are there ...

tell us your native soil ... also ...

and may as well describe your watering protocol ... telling us you have a schedule doesnt tell us much.. nor how you apply such ...

if the test hole indicates its dry at depth.. i ... in my sand.. would probably put the hose on trickle ... for a few hours .. until a hole on the other side.. might show moisture at depth ...

did the builder have a landscaper plant it .. or a bricklayer???
