Shark vacuum reviews, please

Some time ago there was a discussion about vacuum cleaners and I think it was a Shark Navigator that was so well liked. DD is shopping for a new cleaner, so I told her about the positives reviews made here. On googling them, we see a variety of them, so I am wondering which one you have and still like.

I have had the Shark lift away navigator pro for a few years now and still love it. It is going strong just like the day it was bought. I would absolutely recommend it and would buy again. I think all of their top models would be a good purchase.

After reading the reviews here and seeing one in action that a friend has, I bought the navigator pro lift away about a month ago. I really like it. It came with a caddy to put the canister part on. I'd been using a Kirby and then an old Eureka canister.

If you have a Kenmore now and like the way it sews, then stay with the Kenmore brand. Sears is always having sales and many of their machines are made by Janome, another excellent brand of machine. The added benefit is that you can probably use the feet and accessories from the old machine with the new machine, and realize savings because you don't have to buy new feet. It seems to me you would be throwing good money away to get the Shark if it has had mixed reviews. I learned the hard way after I purchased the Singer CE200 that had mixed reviews and found I was not overly fond of the machine after I started garment sewing with it. Right now I have my Kenmore 19365 out and ready to go for a crepe blouse because I'm sick of being frustrated sewing with that stupid Singer. Singer makes excellent products, the CE100 and 200 combo embroidery and sewing machines just are one big bummer of a machine series in their product line for sewing...embroidery feature is fine. All in all, I would advise to do your homework about different types and brands of machines (internet will save you shoe leather there), try the different machines that appeal to you after doing your research until you find the one you really like and feel comfortable using, then keep saving your pennies until you have the funds to purchase that new machine. Until you have the funds, keep using the machine you have now until you can really afford to purchase an upgraded machine and upgrade our sewing skills while saving money for a new machine (you are still in the beginner phase and need to upgrade to more difficult sewing). I saved for years to get a Kenmore 19365 to replace the beloved old Lady Kenmore with blonde cabinet my mother bought me new and upgrade the Singer 6235, paid cash, and actually treasure the 19365 because I had to work so hard and long to save for that machine that sews like a dream.

Our last vacuum was a very expensive Miele canister vac that DH bought as a "surprise" for me. I couldn't wait until it wore out so that I could get one that wasn't a canister-type that I had to drag around. It was made very well and took a long time to die (LOL). But, I did my homework, really researching vacuums before buying my next vac, the Shark Navigator Pro Liftaway. I've had it for over a year now and love it! My only complaints about it are: (1) it doesn't have a retractable cord like my Miele did; and (2) I knock the crevice and small brush attachments off the handle too frequently while vacuuming. Both are minor complaints, though. I have real brick floors with Oriental rugs throughout the house . . . and 2 dogs, one of which sheds her long hair profusely. This vac switches from bare floors to rugs with the flip of a switch on the vac. It's very very good at getting up all of Chloe's hair! The attachment to slide under dressers, sofas, refrigerators, etc. really comes in handy. If my Shark died tomorrow, I would absolutely buy another. Lynn

Of the three different Sharks which I have, my favorite is the Rotator Professional Lift-Away 3-in-1 vacuum (Model No. NV501). It is red. It can be converted to a canister vacuum that rolls along, or a portable vacuum. It comes with a pet power brush that is great, and a bare floor nozzle. Mine came with the micro vacuum attachment, which is great for cleaning out sewing machines, computers, etc. That attachment may no longer be available, but can be purchased separately at Amazon.com - http://www.amazon.com/Micro-Vacuum-Attachment-Kit-Piece/dp/B000BSJCLY

I only have 2, a new Shark navigator and an old Hoover...I love, love the new navigator and would highly recommend any Shark product...We have 2 inside cats and I swear, every time I use that Shark, it picks up enough fur to build another cat...And I thought I was a fairly good house keeper, yikes........

I think this is the one I just bought. I think it works great. A little heavier than I expected. For the first time in my life I have 2 vacuums so I don't have to tote one up and down the stairs. Definitely worth the price,

I read all those reviews here too and ended up getting the one I've linked to below. I found ours at Costco for 160.00 but they don't carry it anymore. It's been a couple of months now and I have to say I like it. It cleans so much better than the Eureka canister we have.

The pros: Hands down it has the best suction on rugs and when you turn off the brush it's fabulous on throw rugs. On wood flooring it's not perfect, but still better than most uprights.

The cons: Between the strong suction and weight (it's sort of heavy) it can be hard to navigate. IMHO it needs (and I would have paid extra for) a self propelling feature. Also the hose is way too short, as in useless too short. Still, I like it enough to keep it.

I suggest buying at bed bath and beyond and use the 20%off coupon.

I bought both the Lift-Away and the Rocket, at different times, from Bed Bath & Beyond using coupons, they have a good return policy there so I'm not afraid to take a chance on a product.

I have the rocket and its kinda top heavy. It goes under furniture well but it is awkward to use. The cup doesn't hold very much either. I really liked it at first, and it does a good job, just not comfortable.

I like the Rocket, it is good but top heavy as Joann said, still glad I bought it, the Lift-Away does hold more though.

I have the shark proffessional with the lift off features.Great machine and no bags to buy,the only thing i dislike about it is when i go from carpet to hard floors,it seems very noisy to me on the hard floors.
