Hostas and Instagram
Comments (5)It's an app that you download on your mobile device, or ipad. It's a fun way to share "on the go" things, or moments, with friends and family by way of a photograph. Think facebook with photo updates, instead of written updates. A good example would be being out in the garden grabbing your cell phone and taking a hosta photo, or being on a walk and seeing a goofy garden figurine that you want to share. This is the official definition of instagram.... "Instagram is a fun and quirky way to share your life with friends through a series of pictures. Snap a photo with your mobile phone, then choose a filter to transform the image into a memory to keep around forever." It's easy to use and pretty fun to upload photos and see what photos friends and family have uploaded that day....See MoreI just don’t get the appeal of Instagram.
Comments (83)I ditto what Tina Marie said. I use instagram a lot and very much enjoy it. I follow home designers, fashion and skin care/make up people. I find a lot of products I want to purchase that way. It's good and bad. I often find things I need that way, but I also probably purchase way more clothing than I need because of instagram. On the other hand, I find out about sales that I probably would not otherwise know about. I've pretty much stopped scrolling and just watch stories of the limited set of people I follow. There are links to the products in the stories and I find that very helpful. Pinterest, on the other hand, has never made sense to me. I've tried it (because my daughter told me to) and I just cannot see the appeal....See MoreOur wish comes true, more European roses from NIRP through Palatine!
Comments (168)I am speechless… What an amazing thread! Thank you, Helen! and Everyone for your lovely photos & comments on NYRP roses. I tried perusing most of it this evening! I am new to NIRP roses but after seeing a few weeks ago Helen’s roses I choose a few for my spring list from Palatine. Also, I have been eyeing a few of them from your garden photos on other threads. I am so excited to order in Dec.: 1. Rosemantic Pink 2. Rosaraie du Chatelet 3. Maybe Rosemantic Fushia/ or Kordes-Dark Desire Parfuma (Can’t decide.) Rosemantic Cream & Anastasia are gorgeous-love them, too! @Ceres , Love your Forever Rose, do you know if it is BS resistant. @Amanda Dickerson, I see you have BS, too, looking for resistant roses. Me, too. After reading your experoence w/BS on NIRP roses I am concerned, but wish to try a few. However, I have had great success w/Kordes roses & Meilland roses not getting BS-the most resistant in my garden. I have Polar Express, , Earth Angel, Summer Romance, Beverly, Wedding Bells, Madame Anisette, Pomponella , Cinderella, Lions Fairy, & more Kordes doing well-almost no BS. I have Francis Meilland, Princess Charlene de Monaco, Ives Piaget, Cream Ives Piaget (Classic Woman) Meillands-almost no BS. Almost any rose can get BS if sitting in water-with way too much rain this year, but many had zero BS anyway. They are the best BS resistant roses I have out of a hundred roses almost. I have others if you need a longer BS resistant list. Savanna is BS resistant-zero BS! Carol, Thanks for pointing out this thread. I am so busy…I am missing these anazing threads! @kathyc_z10 Kathy, Thank you for your photos of Roseraie Du Chatelet -what a magnificent rose-love its name-it’s color is beautiful & excited about its vigorous growth! NIRP ROSES are so lushious! THANK YOU, everyone! again for your comments & photos on NIRP International roses & website. What a wonderful company of superb roses! Can’t wait to put in my first order for them!...See MoreGardeners' favorite tools/helpers
Comments (96)@Sunny Mississippi 8a A heavy-duty hand truck! I bought one at a hardware store and it's fantastic. Not collapsible, but I've left it out in the rain for a year now and it hasn't really rusted much. I was using it to move big rocks so I think it'd be great for potted roses. You could strap the roses to it so they wouldn't fall off... and the big wheels are great for rough terrain. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Milwaukee-800-lb-2-Wheel-Red-Steel-Heavy-Duty-Hand-Truck/50042444 The best part is that you don't have to pick the rock/pot up, you just tip one end up, wiggle the hand truck underneath, and tilt it back. I'm a huge fan....See Moreehuns27 7a PA
