You may also want to post on the paint forum...if you want to stick to paint. You may want to creat an alternate use- spice rack, vertical paper towel rack, pegboard to hang implements, etc.

why is the cabinet box smaller than the doors?

Off topic, but will the cabinet on the left also have doors? If so, I don't see how either set of doors could open the way it's configured.

I know that it looks like the doors won't open the way they are configured, but there is a space in the corner that is not very visible in this picture to allow for the added room that is required. There will also be restriction hinges on both doors so they don't bump into each other. The cabinet on the left will be glass. The boxes are shorter because there is a rail that goes on the bottom to hide the under counter lighting. Thanks so much for the comments. I'll try posting to the paint forum as will.

fill the screw holes, then use a bonding primer on the end. Then paint.

Filling and finishing the edge of 1/8th veneer shouldn't be too difficult.

Thanks for the comments and I will check out the rolled veneer. I've posted this on the wood working forum as well so I'm getting a little confused about posting, new to this, but the feed back so so helpful!

The problem is sending it to be painted if it is rolled up. You can
tell we have never done this before. We thought that getting the doors
painted with car paint they would be more durable, which we think they
are. But we tried to match the paint on our own, to do the finishing bits, and it hasn't worked.
So it looks like we will need to send all the finishing pieces to be
painted as well. We thought about the 1/8 inch skin for it but don't
know how to attach it or finish the edge or where to get it. I've
included an additional photo of the kitchen there is a bit more done
since this last photo was taken.

Yes we thought about bead board, how would we finish the edge? It would look nice.

Going with the bead board theme: extend the box with a nice flat board to match the door lengths on both ends of your uppers. So when the door is open the facing edge will look nice below your box. Then cover the side with "bead board" wallpaper. I think it is paintable. That would provide the camouflage for the short boxes, and accommodate that shallow space your have to work with at the window.

Love the color. There are special rollers made for applying epoxy paints. Can you try painting the ends yourself, with a roller and the automotive paint?

We haven't tried painting it with the automotive paint because the process includes a sealer that is baked. We bought paint that I had color matched and tried a bit on the end of the cabinet but it was just too different. The end of the box looks like melaine or something like it and the doors are maple. So the two differences, regular paint vs automotive paint and maple vs melamine, didn't give us a good outcome.

Thanks, enduring the boxes do look odd at the moment. We have the pieces to go the bottom but haven't got to that yet. The problem with the paint is an issue. We have decided to go back to that company that painted to doors and get them to paint all the finishing pieces to get the match. We need to find a product that is is thin and we don't have much room and flat that will take the paint process. Wall paper would work if it was flat for the painting at the automotive painter.

What about stainless steel sheets, or other sheet metal? Since automotive paint was developed for that material.

I think enduring's idea would work for the inexpensive sheet beadboard--put a long, pre-painted piece of wood trim along the edge. Butt a piece of pre-painted sheet beadboard up to it, to cover the side. Not sure what adhesive to use on melamine.
