you can use a pop out outlet like this one...they also make lots of decorative wall plates. A little expensive but looks much better than the regular stuff. Im sure this will meet code because it is a standard outlet that fits into a standard wall box.

My designer has spec'd a small tilt down to hide my outlets. Not sure if that is what I will do or not, but it is an idea.....

If I had a thinking KD, they would have suggested something like that. Unfortunately my guy was not thinking. As for the pop ups, I have granite and dont want to cut a hole in the slab to make it work. The plug strip unfortunately is too wide. I dont have the room before the deco panel starts. I dont really want to put it in the toe kick area because I hate bending down that far.

Any other ideas would be much appreciated.

I wouldn't want to bend down either., and I want it in place that is convenient to my task. I don't know what colour your island is, but another idea is just to camouflage them as much as you can. If you have a dark island, make sure you don't use a white outlet,. :)

You should talk to your electrician. Ours had plug boxes that were thin, and we were able to fit them at the side of a drawer. He put the wires tight to the inside of the cabinet, so the drawer works great and the plug is right where I wanted it.

Our local code permits them under the seating area underhang, which has an apron. They are completely invisible. However, I see that you likely have a back to back cabinet set up. Do you have a sink? The false front is another area.

Some people have made smaller drawers and put them next to the the drawer.

We ordered unfinished cherry switchplates from Arnev.com, and our KD had our cabinet company stain/finish them to match our cabinets. We were able to specify the grain pattern and orientation (vertical or horizontal), as well as edge design (we wanted flat, straight edges, rather than beveled). We even got to choose the screw color/metal/finish.

Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions. What a learning process this has been. I am discussing the use of flush receptacles with my electrician.
