Those shutters say "mobile home." If you want it to look less like that, then the shutters must go. At first, it may look bare to you, but see it as an opportunity for more of your new color to show. I think you'll grow to love it. You 'll get a more contemporary look; especially if you remove the piece of country style picket fence and replace your house number plaque with some bold contemporary digits. Be sure to clear away any yard clutter, and maybe you can add a contemporary light at the door. A trusty vehicle and a length of chain can remove the ball shrubs. Landscape can be planned and then executed over time so it isn't so expensive.

That was a really unfortunate addition to the style of the house. I don't have experience with stucco, but I'd paint along with the siding, make it disappear if it can't be removed. I think I'd like to see that house approx same color both levels too, somehow that shade white looks stark to me with the roof and the brick. Is there a color in the brick your niece would be happy with for her upper level.....

Have you done "test spots" of the gray on the brick yet? If not, I'd start there. You may need to paint the siding a different color, depending on how the Romabio ends up looking. Looks like you have a very light and cool bluish-gray right now. If the brick ends up looking warmer, then I'd suggest a warmer contrasting color for the siding.. Also - once you do the brick, are you looking to change the door colors? Looks like you have two front doors, I'd personally change the color of the main door and paint the second door the same color as either the brick or the siding. I'm sure other folks will chime in about adding landscaping..

Just a quick update to say I chose paint colors! I went with Miller Paints (only in the PNW). A for the body of the house, B for the main trim, C for the mullions. Also took an updated photo of my house to share for those of you who commented on the vines on the trellises on my house. (Still lots more vegetation to get under control before painting, but it is a constant process!) I'll share an update when the painting is completed, but it will be awhile. I work more than full time, have lots of weekend getaways planned for the summer, and the prep work is going to be incredibly time-intensive (but important)! Just need to get it all painted before the rain starts in the fall. Thank you all for sharing your suggestions and opinions! (Please excuse the hose, garden watering was underway!)
