You have not ordered cabinets yet, right? Change the two cabinets in the island to drawers with soft close and store silverware, dishes there. It would work better if you slide the island away from the sink so that at least a 4.5 foot isle existed between the sink and island. Alternate(1) is to switch the ovens and dish storage cabinet. This is the smallest way of correcting for dish storage. Alternate(2) is to not have oven cabinet at all. Warming drawer to one side of cooktop, both ovens under the island top. Personally, I completely agree with the doors need to become drawers comment above. I would also like a prep sink in the island or to see if the ref could be on the other leg of the "L" shape... So the dishes, micro and ref had better accessibility to people want a drink or snack or to set table or clean up. If you image a kid getting lemonade in the summer, right now the best way for that is to pick up a glass from the dining area cabinet and walk through your work area to the ref. You also might look at how you cook a bit more. I realize I'm not like most people (duh!) - I hate putting unwashed stuff in the ref so I pre-wash most veg when its purchased or brought in. Most people wash immediately before using. If you are in the second category, it might be important to try and arrange the kitchen so stuff coming from the ref goes to the sink, the prep area and then the range.

Ironcook, eventually I would like to upgrade to stainless, but u are right, the crisp white would look better with the white appliances. I think the white appliances might make the cabinets look dirty if I went creamy, etc. I guess what I am worried about-- how would the crisp white look off the family room with the teak leather couch??? Do I need to bring in white woodwork, etc???? I don't have to keep the armoire. Other thought I could warm up the two spaces with a warm green like BM Sag Harbor Gray or Dried Basil---then I guess I would have to accent with green in the living room and dining room, don't know how I would do that (maybe through pillows?) Not sure if carrying different shades of the green on the color chart might help. Just not sure how an entire whole floor would look in green????

Looks beautiful! Did you paint them yourself? Were they sprayed or brushed? I'm thinking about painting ours but it seems daunting since we have a large kitchen like yours.

I have had wood floors in two kitchens and it truly, truly is not a problem as far as durability. It's more comfortable on your feet, things don't shatter when dropped, it's quieter, and you'll have nice flow with the other rooms on the floor. Since you're refinishing the existing wood floors anyway, I would absolutely lay wood down in the kitchen and finish it all at the same time. No question. Also, it's much easier for tile to really date a space, and even though you love it now, in 10 years your taste often changes. It's not curtains---you're not going to replace a tile floor simply because it's looking a little 2019. This could be a factor if you're planning to sell in ten years. Wood floors simply do not have this issue. As far as the entry way, depending on where you live, I would *consider* keeping that smaller area tile. When you've got wet, snowy feet it can be nice to have a tile area to come into. If I were going that route I would use something with a dark-ish slate look, or really anything with a natural stone type of vibe. I might look for something that had about the same level of darkness as the new wood floor color, so it wouldn't jump out as a light or dark spot. (Anything but wood-look against real wood!)
