My bargain of the week
Comments (11)I bought a Pack N Play here at a yard sale for $4.....and then realized it could be dangerous. I checked the recall list, called the company and checked the site listed by camp56. I was glad to find out it was safe. My grandkids never got to use it so I will donate it to a worthy cause....See MoreMy Tuesday Morning Bargains-Pic
Comments (13)Bobby ~ I like your fabrics! The diagonal stripe would make a good looking binding! You can wash Fat Quarters. I swish them around in a big bowl of hot water with a drop of Dawn & a small piece of a Color Catcher. That way you see if they are going to bleed (put like colors together)and you get to wash out all the sizing and see how good or bad the fabric really is. I blot on a towel, then dry on high heat in the dryer altogether. You will have to starch & iron them before you begin your project (hmmmm, which iron to use?:) Definitely a good purchase. You can practice with these and make some placemats and potholders and kitty quilts if the fabric turns out not to wash well....See MoreMy biggest CL purchase ever (but still a bargain in my mind)
Comments (38)Oh my gosh, johnmari! I didn't realize that you meant this exact one. My friend and the hubby at the house put in in the trailer for me, as I could never have done it. It's darn heavy, and SO beautifully made. The furniture movers who brought it in for me took my other one out quite easily, as they know their stuff, but this one was even heavy for them. I've enjoyed reading on the H&M website how all this is made, and those nail heads went in one by one...It's an investment piece for me, and am so happy how at home it looks in my LR. I can't sit on it without at least 2 dogs being on it with me, and I am amazed that they haven't scratched it. Leather is great! Tracey, I did my kitchen in a similar color to what you saw in the LR. It's Ben Moore Crimson, #1299, and I LOVE it. It's really NOT 'crimson' as I think of it, but a terra cotta color. You may want to check that out also, but the Baked Terra Cotta sounds more like what you are looking for. Great plan to do it while hubby is away!...See MoreMy Bargain Bedspread -- Not Bugs...Smokers
Comments (44)Thanks, all! Yes, we are home in Chicagoland now, but I hope I can try some of these great-sounding remedies when we get back to the condo next January. I've double-bagged the spread and put it in Owner Storage. I've told our cleaner to inform me if she starts to smell it, in which case it will have to go 'home' to the Salvation Army for someone else to puzzle over. I wish I'd known that I could try charcoal or baking soda -- they could be *working* while we are gone! Meanwhile I am using a very nice -- not AS nice -- plain coral spread and shams that I got at Macy's "on sale". ($80). Brushworks -- Do you know what is the active ingredient in the OdoBan? (Love the Q & A's that ask if you can wash your dog in it! heehee)...See MoreKadie
