Congrats on the seeds and cuttings! they will make a nice addition to your garden. I like the purple variety of the Star Apple better than the green one that I have now, it is very ornamental.

Silvia - I've been bringing home Star Apple seeds for 3 years. The ones from April 2012 are in the ground; one tree in my garden - about 4' tall. All the others are in 7-gallon cans. One of these days, I'll haul a couple to a plant swap.

I bought my Star Apple in Excalibur thinking it was the purple variety and this year when it fruited, I found out it was the green kind.
I am sure that the cuttings that you came home with made a great souvenir.:)

I have that hibiscus trained as a standard and it is a good ten feet tall. It has long branches, like a weeping willow. It doesn't get bushy. Maybe if I tried harder to keep it pruned it would, but I don't seem to get back to it enough. I have that aralia both in green and variegated, that I keep as bushes. I wasn't sure what they were, so thanks for the name. :o)

I need some advice pls. I tasted my 1st star apple in Jamaica last week & brought home 2 seeds to try to plant. They tasted sooo good! I'm in 9B. How long do they take to germinate? How long before bearing fruit? Can they bear fruit in 7gal pots? Is anyone putting some cuttings on Exchange?

The seeds take a couple of weeks to germinate. It will take 5 to 7 years minimum before you get fruit. A 7-gallon pot is way too small. These are 20 to 30 foot trees. They don't grow from cuttings.

See? This is why I will never be 100% a gardener. If I were sharing pictures of 'Goodies from Jamaica' it would be pictures of various bottles of rum! While any seeds I procured would be quietly growing on a shelf somewhere. Nice score.
