Too shiny? BM Linen White Aura eggshell in sunny kid room?
Comments (10)Thank you all! Cat_mom, I had heard about that velvety matte texture in Aura. I once had dark walls in Restoration Hardware's "velvet wall finish" and loved them-also not flat-flat but instead a nice visual texture and physical feel. Thinking Aura might be similar. So here is a follow-up question. I'm painting our north-facing (but still quite good light--maybe reflecting off garage?) bedroom in BM Aura Barrista, a medium chocolate Affinity color with subtle red undertone. ( I chose warmer than beautiful, dark Bittersweet because of the north light.) My husband is on board with this, but nervous the room will be too dark. To boost the light in the room a bit I went with Aura eggshell (apparently a bit shinier than Regal eggshell) when I gave the builder my color list the other day. Anybody think I should switch back to Aura matte in this grown-up room--knowing that Aura is washable in matte and not dead flat--to keep that velvety texture of the matte? Or does the eggshell still have that? Thanks for your thoughts!...See MoreTinting Cabinet Coat BM linen white
Comments (5)I just put 1 coat of the CC on the outside of my vanity doors (which have the same profile as my kitchen cabs). It again turned out very nice. I put the door in my kitchen and I'm actually liking the color- it's just ever so slightly too yellow. So now I'm wanting to have something in between the BM Linen white and the yellowed CC version of linen white. Hopefully this can be accomplished without too much trial and error. There are numbers on my can of CC- do these indicate the color make-up? I'm wondering if we can use those to determine a similar composition with a little less yellow. Incidentally, here are my doors, I did a combination of brush and foam roller. This is only 1 coat of primer and 1 coat of cabinet coat. At first they don't look all that great- but I just walk away. I come back 45 mins later and they leveled out and the color uniforms nicely. And a picture of the oranged out cabinets I'll be painting....See MoreIvory White, Linen White, White Dove BM Color Dilema
Comments (24)Ivory white is not Acadia white. Ivory white #925 is in the Classic colors fandeck and Acadia white #OC38 is in the Preview colors fandeck. They are very close in color. jbrodies' kitchen that was recently posted as finished has cabinets in Acadia White. Here's a pic of ours while being remodeled. We're not quite done yet, but you can get an idea of the Ivory White color. The wall next to the cabinet has been primed so it is white in color and you can see the Ivory white next to it has a bit of yellow creaminess to it. My hutch top is walnut so you can see it next to brown. Also, I have a lot of natural light in my kitchen, during the evening the cabs look even more creamy. I think either color would look great with Tropical Brown....See MoreBM Swiss Coffee, Linen White or Timid White? Help!
Comments (27)https://www.houzz.com/photos/nantucket-ma-traditional-living-room-boston-phvw-vp~2409487 Pat: This paint is definitely warm and does not read white at all. This link gives a good representation of Maritime White OC5. You can see the different shades. Low light under the windows reads darker and bright light in the corner brings out a yellow tint. Although, I would not say this paint "reads yellow" at all. I think the bright light brings out the warmer hue. I hope the link works for you. If not, google BM Maritime White OC5 and you will get a lot of photos....See Morelisa_mocha
