How closely did you watch you cabinet installation?
Comments (17)Hover, yes that's the right word. I will find out definitely tomorrow when the cabinets are delivered, but best I could gather from the owners of cabinet store are that the contractor would be doing the install. I am assuming one of his carpenters will be assisting. The contractor was brought by to meet me when we finalized the cabinet order. Next time I met him was 2 months later when the cabinet order was in and they started demo. He was here for demo but left midday. BF is retired and stays here all day, but I'm in the middle of a large project and have to go to the office every day. The contractor has been here 4 times over the last 3 weeks, but I gather from BF that any time he comes here, that he will leave after about an hour. The owners of the store call to let me know what subs to expect over the week and what time to expect them. When subs come, I give them any extra direction they need. But I have to be at work by 9:30. I don't get home until 6pm, so by that time all I can do is inspect, take pictures and send emails. The last time he was here was about a week ago. I was so pissed off, I went ballistic as soon as he opened his mouth. I feel like I have taken over as GC and no one is allowed to make decisions or purchases without my approval. I hired the tile installer and granite people myself so the work will be done outside of my contract with the cabinet store. So far the tile guy was wonderful and while I will be here for the granite measurements and installation, I'm not worried about it. I am honestly thinking of sitting here though and watching every move the cabinet installers make....See MoreHorse race ? watching Belmont
Comments (5)just found this....... For just everyday races, someone in the racing office writes each of the entries in a race on a separate piece of paper "called the entry slip", then a similar number of "numbered pills" are placed in a shaker box. On person in the racing office pulls an entry slip for a horse and another person in the racing office pulls a "pill" from the shaker box. The number pulled becomes the horse's post position number. The horse will also wear the saddle cloth with the post position number. In the case of coupled entries (when an owner or trainer has more than one entry in a race)- the coupled entry will be numbered 1 and 1A and will wear that saddle number, however, the horse still goes into the post position numbered gate. For instance, lets say that horses with post positions 6 and 10 are coupled in an entry - the horses will still be placed in the gate according to the number that was drawn, but the saddle cloths will be numbered 1 and 1A. For stakes races like "The Kentucky Derby" or "The Florida Derby", the racing office does the same thing except it is witnessed by viewers in the track on that particular day. The drawings are conducted on a podium, usually televised over the track's television network. Anyone and everyone that is at the track on that particular day can witness the event....See MoreDid you watch Jesus Christ Superstar last night?
Comments (30)i knew John Legend was a singer but couldn't tell you the title of a single song he sings. he has a really great voice! was kinda thinking i was gonna ve disappointed - ya know, nothing compares to original - but was so WRONG! was probably only about a minute into the overture when i was cranking up the volume... had to remember to turn it back DOWN when performance was over. no commercials would have made it great, but ya know how that goes. i also pretty much knew/remembered all the words, too!...See MoreOT Daisy did you take the short trip to watch the Prince?
Comments (4)I love visiting Knossos. It is awe inspiring. But I wasn't there that day, I did not know that there was a royal visit. In fact, I did not know about the new baby and the impending marriage until very recently. It is not something that I take much interest in. I loved Mariannese's story. The only time I have had any contact with the royal family, was many years ago when I took my daughter, who was then 4 years old, to the Derby in June. This is held every year at the historical racecourse at Epsom. It is a big, festive event with a fair and sideshows as well as the flat racing. I took my daughter to the fair first, which she loved. She also loved rolling down a grassy bank, over and over again. When she tired of that, we slowly wandered along the side of the racecourse, taking in all of the crowds and the party atmosphere. I had bought a picnic with us, which I carried in a Woolworth's carrier bag and my daughter walked hand in hand with me whilst eating a chocolate ice-cream. Without noticing where we were going, we found ourselves inside the Royal Enclosure. Why we were not stopped from entering, I don't know. I gradually realised that the crowds had thinned out and all of the men were wearing morning suits with silk top hats and all of the ladies were in flowery summer dresses with big hats. Before we had a chance to escape, the security men, (who were also wearing morning suits) opened a pathway for the Queen, Prince Philip and the Queen Mother, who were walking back from the parade ring after seeing their horse saddled. The Queen walked past me, just a few feet away, her glance taking in my tatty blue Levi's, the Woolworth's carrier bag, my daughter's grass stained summer dress and her heavily, chocolate smeared face. Not a flicker of surprise crossed her face as she walked past me but the Queen Mother, following a few feet behind, looked straight at us and gave us a broad grin. After they passed, we left the royal enclosure, without a word from anyone. That is the only contact I have ever had with the Royal Family.
