Master Bath -countertop choices
Please help me choose a countertop color. The board shows my tile, it will be used in matte for the floor of the room, in matte 2x2's for the shower floor, and in polished for the shower walls. The tile is shown in the background and there is also a close up on the bottom. The board also shows the vanity finish and three countertop choices.
I had originally planned to use laminate for the countertop, I now have access, in my budget to a limited selection of solid surface options.
The countertop choices from left to right, are Amarillo Gold, Silk Perla, Kalahari Topaz. The first two are the ss, the third is the laminate. Which do you prefer?
In case it impacts your preference, the bathroom will also have a small freestanding tub, and my sink choice is not final.
I was planning to go with this sink. Budget, and some other factors, have me re thinking this at present.
I view one benefit of going with solid surface is that I can also use it for the shower curb. If I go with laminate I will mostly tile the curb.
Please let me know which countertop you like best.

Comments (12)The skirting is inside the shower, but the difference in the depth of the tile at the upper edge of the skirting and the large tile is not much. Yes, the cornice piece has a slight edge, but no more than the Sonoma tile. Here is the profile of the Sonoma tile. I completely understand the concern of the protruding edges or ledges, but I'm not sure how you'd get the look without that detail. I don't mind using a squeegee or wiping down the shower after use. As has been discussed in other threads about the microfiber towels, wiping down the shower keeps it looking like new and requires very little 'cleaning'. We currently have 4" square white tile in the shower with white grout and after 25 years, it still looks very good. Comments (7)Thanks for the feedback. I have spoken to a handful of agent friends who work in the area - there really is no consensus. Some are more old school and think number of bedrooms trumps all, while others are more in line with my thinking that my target buyer is the newlywed or newborn crowd. I could *technically* still list the house as four bedrooms as that basement bonus room has a closet and is adjacent to a bathroom. I also thought about just converting that into a master suite, but I think that adds a ton of livable space as a second living room for a relatively small house and 5 bedrooms would be overkill. The whole thing has raised another question - is having a large master with a big bathroom/closet going to be important to my target buyer? Comments (38)I'm confused. are you planning on selling soon or living here for a while? if you're leaving soon and think this is a teardown, why even bother having anything done to it? (just need a little clarification is all.) if having a smaller bedroom means you get a necessary extra bathroom, I say go for it! We're in "over 55" community in 2/2/2 home with limited storage. I have walk-in closets in both bedrooms & a 30x30" entry closet PERIOD.
