Here is a picture of the original tile scheme. All I've done is leave out the marble herringbone as an accent and add the cornice piece and the skirting shown above.

I think it's going to be lovely in all white with the different tile shapes. What will be the layout, stacked, running bond, etc.

The upper and lower tiles will be set in a running bond. The vanity backsplash will be the quartz used for the vanity top. The skirting will be on 3 walls of the shower at the base.

The cornice is only 3" tall. I felt anything smaller with less detail would just be lost between the two sizes of tiles . The skirting is around 6" tall, so each architectural tile is at or about the size of the tile above it. Does that make sense?

Is the skirting inside the shower? If so I would consider not using it due to the protruding edges where water might sit rather than drain. I like as little depth possible for my shower tiles better for avoiding mold.

I'm assuming from the photo that the cornice piece has a slight ledge, which reminds me of baseboard or window trim. I would prefer something that didn't stand proud of the adjacent tile, like this Sonoma tile.

The skirting is inside the shower, but the difference in the depth of the tile at the upper edge of the skirting and the large tile is not much. Yes, the cornice piece has a slight edge, but no more than the Sonoma tile.

I completely understand the concern of the protruding edges or ledges, but I'm not sure how you'd get the look without that detail. I don't mind using a squeegee or wiping down the shower after use. As has been discussed in other threads about the microfiber towels, wiping down the shower keeps it looking like new and requires very little 'cleaning'. We currently have 4" square white tile in the shower with white grout and after 25 years, it still looks very good. With the larger tile on the bottom 2/3 of the shower, we'll have a lot fewer grout lines.

So it does have a ledge, but it doesn't appear to in the photo. It looks like it's just thicker in the middle.

I think it should be like chair rail, which is deeper in the center but tapers down on the top and bottom edges. Google chair rail for examples.

Here's another option. The top is more curved than the cornice piece.

A squeegee only works on flat surfaces which is why I shy away from lips in shower tiles.

I like that second option. I think this is how the first one will look. It's very traditional.

I'll squeegee what I can and wipe down the areas missed by the squeegee. That's the price I'm willing to pay for the look, I guess. :)

That is a good example of the first tile. What catches my eye in that picture tho, is how they've treated the outside edge of the tile and how the shower door works with the tile profile that sticks out.
