Master Bath Finish Choices; KISS?
Comments (35)Thought I'd follow up. I really wanted the floral faded wallpaper-y tile, but it's just wrong for this dumb lil' phone boothy shower. My second choice I found on Houzz. I thought it was ceramic, but it is a glass tile with an "orange peel" surface so it is not shiny like most glass tile, but it is translucent. I liked glass but did not want shiny. You can also request a range of hues, which I like as it is also less modern. It is by Island Stone, and the price I got was $27 a square foot; versus well over $100 sq ft for the hand painted floral tiles. Here she is: [Modern Tile[(https://www.houzz.com/products/modern-tile-prbr1-br~t_1053~s_2105) by Santa Cruz Tile, Stone & Countertops Island Stone a> I am coupling it with large square limestone tiles (the color of sand) and a limestone mosaic for the shower floor. edited to add: I like the fact that the running bond is not offset 50/50 like it usually is. Small detail but I think it looks different. This post was edited by mtnrdredux on Mon, Mar 10, 14 at 12:49...See MoreNeed help with tile choices please (Master bath)
Comments (15)Hahaha tibbrix, I had to google "flash in the pan" and yes I agree the green tile could very well be a fad and in 5-10 years it may scream old or dated BUT I do like it ... I tried picking a glass tile that wasn't too bright or bold/mix in colors hoping it would be more subtle and stay in style for a while ... I can't predict the future but I do know I have a good chance of getting a better look by replacing what I already have. I appreciate the suggestions. I love the wood floors but I just installed 900 sq ft of solid wood in the house and I wouldn't want to mix hardwood types in my home, and what I have now isn't made for bathrooms. Did I mention I'm in a cookie cutter neighborhood, so nothing too fancy here. :) Sochi I have looked at your bathroom hundreds of times. It's my favorite! I hope you're ok with me using the pic, otherwise I can delete it. I looked up your tile but they don't show a store in MO and I'm thinking its over my budget :) a girl can dream though I need a little more help everyone, I've narrowed down the vanity countertop to two choices - both hanstone, the more speckled one is swan cotton and the other is aurora snow. My dream countertop was alway swan cotton but the more I look at it it's almost too much speckle... Comments (9)Thank-you for the info! Spent an hour and half at a plumbing supply showroom yesterday! Won't know until room is gutted what the current drain lines look like and if it will be easy (and not expensive) to move the toilet. Everything hinges on the toilet! haha. Picked out items that I liked but didn't order anything yet. Like the Kohler Artifacts line and the faucet is similar to your Moen's @crl. Will probably go with that line's shower head and hand held, Memoirs Stately toilet. Think it all keeps within the traditional style of the room and house and still clean lined. (liked the Grohe lines, too, but thought the Kohler Artifacts line was a better match for the room). Even picked out a drain cover--who knew there were so many choices! And no tub. In fact taking out the tub. Rarely used, gives us much more room to play with and we have two other tubs in the house....See MoreNeed help from pros for master bath tile choices
Comments (5)We're voting for the White Carrara Basketweave which has a more timeless appeal and will work well with your white subway tile walls. That fits your classic vibe requirement. The eclectic vibe can be achieved and further enhanced with the other elements, including vanity, hardware, lighting, faucet, and décor. Would love to see photos of the completed bathroom in the future. Good luck! :)...See Morebac717
