Brad, I've never had strawberry schnapps, but assume it's fairly low alcohol content. I've also never made a strawberry punch, but if I were going to spike it I'd go with a higher alcohol content and choose vodka or rum. Or better yet, you could make a regular punch and have a bottle or two on the side for people to spike according to their tastes.

That looks good to me, Brad. I agree that it's a good idea to have a bottle and let people add their own, I don't drink and dislike the taste. Unless, of course, you know that everyone drinking the punch likes alcohol. The information I find on line says it's 48 proof, so not really strong, I think a fifth per gallon would be enough, that makes a 5:1 punch/booze mixture. I'm assuming your guests are all going to be your age, early 20s, not old enough to be really "experienced" drinkers?

I've never heard of Strawberry Schnapps either, but it doesn't surprise me, there are lots of flavors of stuff now. Have fun.

Party_music, I was considering strawberry flavored vodka before the liqueur.

Annie, I don't drink much, myself, but my best friend (it's his cousin and her husband and their two daughters (whom are only 3 and 9/10 months old) are going to visit them and he said about getting some Angry Orchard (a type of hard cider) to drink. I think it would be better not to spike the punch so the kids would be able to drink some, too and the bottle would be out of reach, to be sure, if I decide on making this recipe, that is.

The recipe also says to use fruit punch concentrate and ginger ale. I was thinking of switching them out for strawberry concentrate (or lemonade or limeade), and the ginger ale for Squirt or 7 UP. Thoughts?

I have a funny feeling that it's just going to be me and his cousin that'll be sipping on the spiked punch if I get any booze lol.

At the theatre, I know this would go in a heartbeat since we usually have alcohol at the cast parties, but not always. Hmm, maybe a "virgin" version for the gathering with friends and a spiked version for a cast party may be in better order :).

Brad, I think lemonade and strawberries go very well together, I've even canned a "concentrate" to make strawberry lemonade in the summer. In that case, I'd go with 7Up instead of squirt, I don't think you'd need lemons and grapefruit soda together.

Another simple delish recipe using things easily found in any grocery...

1 pkg frozen strawberries, loose frozen, usually about 16oz

1 can pink lemonade

1 can ginger ale

-let your berries and can of lemonade thaw for an hour-ish or so,

-take half of the berries and place in any mold, small plastic container, ring jello mold, anything that can go in the freezer....(thawing strawberries can be sliced easily if not already sliced.) Cover with water and freeze....(i do this step the night before)...taking out half the berries for this step.

-make the pink lemonade as the can suggests. In a blender add the berries and enough lemonade to puree.

-in your serving bowl, combine the blender berries, the rest of the lemonade, a can of ginger ale...float your ice ring mold on top.

* I make this when kiddo's are over with parents for a bbq

I offer seltzer, ginger ale, and booze, (usually vodka), to add as one wants. A little added to seltzer is a nice light beverage, more ginger ale is sweeter, adding vodka makes a daquiri. Suits everyone, especially the kiddies.

I find this enough for a party of 12 as others want wine, fellas might stick to beer...but easily doubled, tripled.

Really? Is that why some take a bit of rum? lol Most like vodka. I don't drink...just beer and wine....but that's food.

Ahha, and tequila is margarita. (never did bartend)...so what are vodka drinks called?

haha! I love vodka because it goes with everything. :) Think of the diversity of White Russian, Sea Breeze, Screwdriver, Bloody Mary, Chi-Chi, vodka & tonic, vodka martini, etc. etc. Now I'm thinking that a Sea Breeze punch would be perfect! cranberry juice, grapefruit juice, and vodka.

Bacardi makes frozen concentrates that are non-alcoholic. I've seen them for sale at Wal-Mart. One of the flavors is strawberry daiquiri. Hmm...I just may have to try that in a punch recipe sometime.

Love, love love! to use Bacardi frozen concentrates different ways. The fuzzy navel makes a great bellini when you mix it with peach flavored sparkling wine and ice. I bet it'd be just as good with a peach soda, which I can sometimes find.

I cannot wait to see it. It's gonna be freakin' awesome.

I do like peaches, and we have a peach tree in the yard, so I'll have a good supply this summer. We had the biggest crop of peaches last year since we planted it a few years ago.

I hope my costume turns out well. My friend (the one who's house where a couple of my high school friends get together at every so often-we haven't done that in forever) is helping me with it. She's great at sewing and better at it than I am lol. My best friend was over one day and he braided some of the wire for me and added a few icy blue acrylic jewels to it (I got them and a pack of white/clear ones at Wal-Mart on clearance one day). I like the look of it, but we shall see when the time comes how everything works out. I can't wait to start on it!
