so they were a bit on the big side ... so there had to be some transplant shock ... and when its rather superficial [meaning they didnt die outright] ... it can take a week to show ...

it takes a bit.. after such.. for the roots to settle down .. get ESTABLISHED.. and get back to doing their job...

i would worry about them all that much.. live and learn ...

now.. as a newb.. let me tell you one thing ... you are not a real green thumb.. until you have killed EVERY PLANT .. at least 3 times .. you just do it over.. and over and over ... just never quit .. lol ..

with the vagaries of ma nature ... its about all you can do ...

i have a small cucumber plant still indoors (im in the uk) been putting it outside each day to harden off and it wilts,, the soil is wet but it just goes droop if i have it in the sun??

Cucurbits - squashes, pumpkins and cukes and the like - are very prone to powdery mildew, which is what the white spotting may be. It doesn't hurt to start spraying with Neem oil or a homemade fungicidal spray (baking soda, milk, etc.) early in the season to counteract and prevent the spread of infection.

thanks i think that where i went wrong, i had it to wet i think, iv moved it into a much bigger pot and put it in amore shady spot and we seem to be doing ok. thanks marlog. i shall name my first cuke after you xx
