Installation Tips for Tilers: Lining up shower and floor grout joints

I'm not sure when I was shown this or by whom, but the simple use of some off cut tile goes a long way to lining up the grout joints in a shower build. In the photo below the shower floor tile was set first and yesterday I set the first four tiles outside the bathroom.

Since the curb or dam will only have one grout joint in the middle it is key it lines up exactly with the all ready installed shower tile. To do this I use two scrap pieces of tile as shown below.

The tile on the floor has a factory 90 degree edge. The tile laying across the curb is lined up with the left hand most edge of the installed shower floor tile. A level is used as well to check that the grout joint is running well and true. But the fine fine tuning is done with these two scrap tiles.

Hope this makes sense and helps someone out struggling to get it just so.
