Am I too picky? Uneven tile and grout
Comments (4)Wow,no doubt the workmanship is poor overall. What should be done depend's on what kind of agreement was made before job began. I've hired work done knowing quality might not be the best simply because it was costing half of industry standard. My scope of work and expectations are far different between a new $400k+ home and a $50k low rent district house. In either of those homes,I expect grout (esp floor) to fill gap so that cleaning is easier plus wear and tear can expose fresh grout before void/dirt trap become's overly deep....See MoreCustom build house - bad tile job or am I crazy/too picky??
Comments (36)Having tile jobs done are gut wrenching. So happy that your builder is making the correct move to remove and replace. Seems like only ten percent of the tile contractors are legitimately good. My builder prepped the tile guy who I had by telling him that I would be doing the bucket test, sliding a 5 gallon bucket across the floor and it should not catch any lips. Also, every morning I had blue tape X marks on tiles that needed to be replaced because he did not use a random of enough color pattern. The fool just grabbed from the same box and went with whatever was in his hand. Could not believe it. Good luck on round 2!...See MoreHow do I fix uneven grout color and low grout joints?
Comments (6)Hi all - does this grout look too low? It’s tough on my feet in both of my newly renovated bathrooms. Seems like tiles are uneven in some spots. Grout is level with one tile then low on the one next to it. Any recommendations on how to fix?...See Morethey didn't ask what size grout line and it looks too big to me
Comments (19)Your pics have now appeared they were not there prior. Rather than edit my previous post I will mention that your shower backer is an approved shower tile backer board. However I have my doubts about the proper screws and definitely think the pattern if incorrect. Also this board is NOT waterproof and there needs to be waterproofing done. Can be either poly sheeting behind the backer or a topical surface applied waterproofing. Also the joints of the tile backer require taping with a non-alkaline tape and taped with thinset. I see none of this but we do not know if any of this was done as we do not see the tile being applied to the wall....See MoreRelated Professionals
